The "What is this?/I learned it from watching you!" at the beginning of the movie is a reference to an anti-drug PSA from the '80's. Jules and Curt aren't really fighting - they are doing a bit: "We are going on a weekend trip! Why are you planning on studying?!"

The scene where Chris Hemsworth's character pretends to get angry about the books ("Where did you get these?!") is him referencing an old, famous anti-drug commercial in the US. In the commercial, a father finds his son's weed, and asks "where did you get this? Who taught you this?" and the kid replies "I learned it by watching you!", implying that he saw his dad smoking pot at some point. So in this scene in the film, Hemsworth's character is making a joke by treating the intellectual textbooks as if they're drugs.

The Cabin In The Woods is a homage to all horror movie genres and clichés with a twist. Even the title "The Cabin In The Woods" is a shout out to the trope of the cabin in the woods setting for some horror movies. @@Nicolas.Vincent It wasn't trying too hard to be scary, and that wasn't really even the point. It points out all the ridiculous things about movies, splitting up, the tropes, the having sex in the woods, etc. You can't really do that *and* be scary at the same time. The "ancient ones" were a plot device, not meant to be something genuinely scary, otherwise there would literally be no point behind any of it.

Regarding the PayPal thing, I usually don't pay attention to it, but I'm fairly sure most reaction-channels link to their paypal, gofundme and similar sites. Either by adding it in the description/information box below the video, or simply adding an overlay text at the beginning of the video during the introduction. I doubt anyone would mind if you do either, or both of what I mentioned above.

"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is one of the best movies of all-time; an incredible script, fantastic casting, unbelievable work in the creation of it to make every part of it work. I would recommend that and "The Princess Bride" (which I know you've already reacted to) before any other movie because I'm so confident that anybody would love both movies. "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" is a fantastic comedy that works on many levels; it's funny not just because of the dialogue, but the editing too. A brilliant, super-fun comedy with an unbelievable cast.

There's a lot of horror movies that this film references that are excellent and would help it make some more sense. The Ring (both the original Japanese version and in my opinion the superior 2002 American remake), Hellraiser and Evil Dead are great places to start. I think the first Evil Dead (from 1981) is where the idea of the haunted "cabin in the woods" started. It's superb.

"Cleanse them. Cleanse the world of their ignorance and sin. Bathe them in the crimson of... Am I on speakerphone?" As much as I love this movie, I love Tucker And Dale Vs Evil (2010) better. It also lampoons horror movies, while having an important message of not judging a book by its cover and communication is key to avoid conflict. I find it hard to find a moral message in this movie. Fun Fact: The movie's opening was a deliberate attempt by filmmakers Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon to confuse the audience and make them think they walked in to see the wrong movie. High Technology Fact: The thermal coffee mug/bong was a fully functional mug and bong as portrayed in the film, the prototype of which cost $5000 to make. Spartan Workout Fact: During the lake scene, the only student not to jump into the lake is Marty, who remains fully clothed on the dock. This was partially due to Fran Kranz noticeably being in as good, if not better, shape than the other male students. In the commentary for the film, the writers joke that he was "ripped like muscular Jesus" and assert that if Marty were shown being that fit it would ruin the character. This is partly why Marty wears baggier clothes than the other students.

So, I'm sure others have brought these out, but, just to make sure... The movie is a both a commentary and satire of the horror movie genre and tropes. The board shown that the workers were betting on were all of the horror monster stereotypes mixed with monsters/horrors from movies; werewolves, ghosts, zombies, etc. The movie deconstructs the tropes giving "reasons" for the stupidity. Splitting up? It's a gas. Dumb blonde? Hair dye. The guy at the gas station? The harbinger of the death to come. The scene with Jules with the wolf? They had given her a drug to increase her libido. You see how each "region" holds its own ritual; Sweden, Japan, the US, etc, denoting the different horror movies that are made from those regions. Each year, the ritual happens denoting that each year a major horror movie is released. The "ancient ones" are the audience. Each time a kill happens, they sacrifice the blood to the "audience" (or ancient ones), and the rumbling is the audience reaction to the killing. The "we aren't the only ones watching" is the audience that expects not only blood and gore, but nudity in horror movies. As long as a ritual from at least one region is successful, ie the audience is pleased, the ritual continues each year without change, ie, a change in how horror movies are made. The red phone is the studio/producers that interfere with the movie, direct how they are made, order what happens, and the workers, ie set workers, actors, etc, are the workers in the facility. The movie is a masterclass in subversion. What happens if the ritual fails? If movies become so stale in trope that the audience isn't satisfied? Then what? Well, the movie goers rise up and the industry as we know it is "destroyed". The line, "time to give someone else a chance" is a direct reference to new directors, new ideas. This is where Marty comes in; the stoner. In the movie, Marty is the only one who sees it for what it is whereas in horror movies, the stoner is the fool.

Most don't mind paypal or such if you're genuine about it, as most understand that creators need income to continue making content. Discovery simply is trash these years on most platforms thanks to ads and hype-based-curation, so the biggest issue (mildly annoying) is the repetition from many channels asking the same thing, but most get it. extra points if you can be authentic and funny about asking support or providing ways to support you. All the best :-)

I think you would like 'Mr Inbetween.' Even if you don't react to it. It only went three seasons but it was freaking incredible while it lasted. The episodes are only 30 minutes long. Which is unusual for a crime show. But works well because there is no real filler. It is set in Australia and tells the story of Ray Shoesmith. Ray is a divorced father that gets custody on the weekends of his beloved daughter. He is a good friend. He has no problem inflicting grievous bodily harm on those he deems in need of a sharp lesson. He is a hard worker. Oh, and he just happens to be a hitman.

That gives us the opportunity to contribute to your work - your art! - anytime we might want and be able to. There's a twisted ethic ingrained in our culture where talented hard-working people often feel conflicted about asking for money - that is, asking to be supported in their craft, compensated for the time and energy and expense that it takes to create the things that we enjoy so much - as though it's the artisan's failure to face the same financial demands that everyone else does. It would speak well of our society if our creators didn't have to hustle and fret just to maintain the basic necessities. But I think there are a lot of us who greatly appreciate it when you make it easy for us to be your collective Medici's so that you can keep sculpting for our imaginations.
