Fun fact: When Lucy(Georgie Henley) pulls the drop cloth off of the wardrobe the first time she sees it, they hid her older sister Rachael under the cloth to get her to smile like that, and Rachael also plays the older version of Lucy at the end of the movie.

Fun fact: In the books the professor was the first kid to go to narnia and he got a magical apple to heal his mother and then planted the core and it grew into a tree which he had made into the wardrobe!
@jacksonkerr2095
@jacksonkerr2095 Ай бұрын
Further elaborating- When you see his desk, the professor (Digory) pulls a bit of tobacco out of a silver apple. This is a clear reference to the fruit which he took from Narnia which healed his mother. Afterward, understanding that the fruit was special, he planted the seeds from the apple. That grew into a tree which, years later, fell after a violent storm. Since it had sentimental value Digory had it turned into a wardrobe kept in his house.

I see someone has already mentioned that the author of Narnia C.S. Lewis and the author of The Hobbit / Lord of the rings J.R.R. Tolkien were best friends. One fun fact about them was that Tolkien insisted that Santa didn't belong in the kind of fantasy stories they were writing, so Lewis wrote Santa in Narnia just to annoy him.

The war is WW2, specifically when Germany bombed cities around the UK. It’s known as the Blitz; from the German term ‘Blitzkrieg’ (lightning war).

37:02 Well, he knows because he was literally one of the first living things to ever see Narnia. In the previous book, he(as a child) a friend, and an unwittingly freed White Witch witnessed the death of the Witch’s world and the birth of Narnia from it, the later of which was heralded by Aslan himself.

JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were colleagues and close friends. They wrote The Lord of the Rings and Narnia with inspiration from each other. Seeing the World Wars, they believed that the centuries of European infighting and ever escalating violence, as well as the European colonization and subjugation of other cultures, came from the trauma of Roman colonization compounded by the lack of traditional cultural wisdom to guide them. Tolkien wanted to write a binding European mythos to replace the cross cultural connections lost to Roman colonization and Christianity imported from the Levant. CS Lewis was more inclined to start from Christianity and, working backwards, postulate a primal European mythos which would have led to modern Christianity on its own.

I highly recommend the books. The first one is called The Magician's Nephew. It's all about the creation of Narnia. The Professor (Diggory) is the star of that one. So, yes. He knows all about Narnia. Also Tilda Swinton (White Witch) was Gabriel in Constantine amongst other things. 😊

Just got to weigh in that The Magician's Nephew is the first chronologically, but not the first in writing order. Unfortunately, they didn't get to the other books, including that one, with this series of actors for the movies. But I do really enjoy The Magician's Nephew for the additional background it gives.

I know this was uploaded last year but I feel I still have to comment some context! The film takes place in England during WW2, specifically 1940 (so the children would be in their 80’s or 90’s in present day). Germany started bombing the cities in the UK, known as the blitz. Children were sent out to the countryside, where it was relatively safe from the bombing. Also stranger danger wasn’t a thing back then, it was quite safe for kids to run around unsupervised and talk to strangers.

This first film is... ASTONISHINGLY faithful to the book, actually. Honestly, it captures the book... just shy of perfectly but for a few VERY minor changes here and there. It may not be COMPLETELY perfect as an adaptation. But by the standards of book-to-film adaptations, this one is... almost UNPRECEDENTED! You'd be hard-pressed to find very many... if ANY... Hollywood-produced film adaptations out there that do NEARLY as much true justice to the original works on which they're based. The two following films, however... Those you could say fall short.

Y'know both Tavare and Flare are beautiful names. I haven't watched this movie in a hot second. The opening is WW2 when they moved kids to the countryside as it was supposed to be safer and away from the Blitz. To be fair, I don't think parents in the 1930s knew to teach about stranger danger either 😅 14:55 🤣🤣🤣 23:39 that voice is Liam Neeson 😌 36:35 the one thing that's gets me at the end is these kids (especially Lucy) now know what becoming and being an adult is like so mentally an adult as a child knowing feels like a fresh kind of hell.

Personally, I'm pretty sure Maugrim jumped on Peter's sword on purpose, knowing Aslan would not have stopped the other Narnians from interfering with Peter's battle unless He knew Peter would win. His last words, "You may think you're a king, but you're going to die like a dog," might even have been addressed to himself, the canine animal who served as the "Queen's" right hand, and would now die for it by the blade of the High King, at the command of the High King Above All Kings.

Since you mentioned never ending story, the first one is really good. The second one is really good. The third one is hot garbage!

Sweet summer child. I don't think you are very familiar with the Pokémon world. Are you Cuz there are a lot of the prettier Pokémon who get a lot of naughty art done of them and it's not always humanized sometimes it's very much beastiality but you know it's odd that in certain fantasy movies a lot of these like half humans are highly sexualized and it's weird because they're smart as humans and they have the top half of humans. But the half that you would be dealing with when having sex is very much not... ... ...just something I've noticed over the years and don't know how to feel about! I mean there's a difference between saying oh so pretty or cute and "i'd hit that"

This is war movie should have looked like, sort of. Today Disney is trash with their woke shit even children won't enjoy.
