48:05 And that is why people cry watching this movie. But they are tears of joy. The friendship between Andy and Red is so well done, you really understand how close they are. Have seen this movie so many times and It never gets old.

It's always interesting to watch women react to that scene. They watch a scene where a woman gets violated most are a wreck and cry. The same women watch a man get violated and the reaction is almost indifferent. "Oh they got him." Maybe it's me but I find that fascinating.

The greatest movie of all time! Nominated for 7 Oscars including Best Picture but lost to Forrest Gump which took home 6. Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman were considered for Red The Film's narrator. Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner, Johnny Depp, Charlie Sheen, and Tom Hanks were considered for Andy. The film was a box office and critical success making $73 million dollars against a $25 million dollar budget. It became an cult classic that it made it's TV Debut on TNT and TBS in 1997. It even sold 320,000 on VHS.

A movie about Hope, friendship, and The Count of Monte Cristo! The Ohio State Reformatory at Mansfield was to be demolished when Hollywood came calling. It is now a movie site and a community center. 9:06 Back in the "dark days of the cold war" our Scoutmaster described maggots found in his World War II rations as "extra protein." 9:51 Actor Mark Rolston was "Pvt. Drake," the Smartgun operator in the movie "Aliens" (1986). 13:25 Andy Dufresne, sound financial advisor since 1949. 22:57 A duet: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noOQgXyZjr2Mg5Y 25:49 "I had to come to prison to be a crook." 26:29 I have the greatest regard for GED students. 27:57 Obtuse. 32:22 Andy's goal: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zihuatanejo 36:30 A little-known song for Andy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a17JlKmkjql4gJI 40:20 Even one for Warden Norton: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHWxlWtnYraEftU 42:47 Red's final statement on "rehabilitated." 47:26 This scene was added when test audiences wondered what happened to Andy and Red. A box office failure that has become a cult and popular favorite over the years.

Great reaction! Don't worry about a few tears. Many of us cry along with you. There's not many movies where you cry tears of sadness in the middle (Brooks) and tears of joy at the end! Truly a masterpiece of storytelling and movie-making! Keep going. You're a natural. Subscribed. As for film recommendations, I would suggest "Arrival", an excellent movie with a great cast, led by Amy Adams (Best Actress-National Board of Review), Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker. If it's time for a romance movie or two, you should react to "Meet Joe Black" (with Brad Pitt, Claire Forlani, and Anthony Hopkins), and/or "The Lake House" (with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock). Both well-acted and interesting love stories with a twist.

Hey Lady ! Really enjoyed your reaction !! Imagine this movie ending when Andy escapes. Originally, that's where it ended. But the producers or writers ( one of them ) said you can't possibly end this movie without them reuniting. So they added that last 15 minutes or so on.

That was the short story ending. The original movie ending was after Red repeated "I hope....I hope." during his trip south. Which still would've been an absolutely epic ending. But seeing Andy and Red reunited was so darned satisfying. I honestly don't know which is better.

Have no fear of crying "in front of us watchers," Ms. O. Probably 99% of us cried watching the many wonderful films Hollywood has put out through the years. We fully understand the whys and wherefores of the falling tears. Two films I'd recommend to you, if not already on your planning list, are "The Princess Bride" and "It's a Wonderful Life." Of course there are MANY MORE, but I'm sure you've been coached by many who've enjoyed your reactions. Which character do you dislike more: Percy in "The Green Mile" or the warden in "Shawshank"? There was one very brief mention by Red of his crime: murder. Yes! Andy put the letter AND SOME OF THE WARDEN'S MONEY in the box at the wall after he escaped and visited the banks. Your tears tell the filmmaker's, screenwriters', Stephen King's efforts at storytelling were SO VERY SUCCESSFUL! YAY!
