"How can society change this much in 36 years?" (thinks back to 1985 and compares it to today...)
@paul1979uk20003 жыл бұрын
Yeah but there is no way society would change that much in such a short space of time like it shows in the movie, it would take at least 100 years for that kind of change. Also, things are not really that different now compared to 85 apart from we are more advanced, there's more political correctness and we tend to be a lot more critical and paranoid of things going on around the world than what it was like in 1985. Still I've got to wonder how a government would be able to pass a law to ban sex, kissing and things like that lol.

Think of this: I've heard Researchers speak on the education topic for a while and this one guy looked at the difference between the US and Finland (or maybe it was Sweden) when the Scandinavian schools ranked at the top of the Best in the World lists, and found that they weren't better. They just didn't have the high number of bad teachers because of the way our teachers unions work. The guy said if we fired the bottom 10-15%, we could be #1 again. The naked girl in his videophone is one example. Huxley herself collecting posters and merchandise that would have been outlawed is another. Even Bobby the assistant, he didn't care if he was building or destroying the system, he was just there to protect himself and be next to the leader of the city. It's because what is happening now is nothing new and has already happened before. It's called Socialism (amongst other things). Although, the Socialist-controlled media and Education authorities don't teach the public about how it is brought about by these very insidious and censorious tactics we are witnessing today. History is simply repeating itself. The writers in the 90s simply knew their own history, including the fact that it always repeats, so they could easily predict the future. After the mass rise of world Socialist first world nations. There will be the inevitable resistance and fight against this form of Tyranny ... which will retrospectively be known as their World War Three, once millions, perhaps billions have died to Socialism and ultimately defeated it yet again. This cycle will then reoccur repeatedly, indefinitely.

How much can a society change in 36 years? The October revolution in which the communists took over the Russian empire was in 1917. 36 years later was 1953, the year Stalin died. In between, millions of deaths and the establishment of a police state which in some ways still exists.

"imagine a future like this" I don't have to. I live in a present like this. It's not cusswords that get you in trouble, however. Just... "misinformation".

I don’t know if anyone caught it yet. But, the sex scene between Sly and Sandra can partly be representation of porn, OnlyFans, and other “virtual reality” based sexual activities. People are destroying themselves by participating in those things and it takes away from the natural way it was designed.

Demolition Man is the only satire that I know that is becoming reality in front of our eyes with open arms and warm kisses by an over-represented small portion of society.

This was such a good movie from Sylvester Stallone, Sandra Bullock and Wesley Snipes. I saw this in the movies when I was only 16 years old and this movie was first released in the fall of 1993. I use to love watching this movie Demolition Man. To this day this is still a good movie and I still like watching this movie for real. This movie was first released 27 years and 8 months and 3 days ago.

From Stallone, you have to see Oscar. Classic.

Gday mate, your laugh is fun.. glad you are enjoying these older movies. If you want another stallone movie with 1 liners, try Tango & Cash. Less of a movie that requires thought, but very cheesy 1 liners made a few years before this one.

I remember when this first came out on VHS. Simon Phoenix became one of my favorite villains of all time. Still is. Also, your thoughts at 10:38 and at the end are spot on. Though, we will never become like this future. We free "savage" people will never lose. The only way to get rid of said savages is for the government to be just as savage. Hence no peace. Let's be honest. The people who want an unobtainable utopia are the biggest authoritarians/totalitarians. Think USSR. So many died.

So the 3 sea shell thing became a reoccurring joke with the writers and the whole crew when they were trying to come up with ways the future would be different. Someone commented that they no longer used toilet paper, but instead used 3 seashells and they just kept it in the movie. One of the writers did release an article explaining what the 3 sea shells are used for and basically you use 2 shells as clamps to grab and pull the turd as it comes out of your butt and the 3rd shell is used to scrape/wipe the poop that is left around your butthole. Lol

I tend to allow gravity to remove the poop first.

This might sound dumb, but when I was a kid and I first watched this movie I thought that the three seashells were not seashells but instead they were three buttons in the shape of seashells. Then you press it and each seashell shoots different pressure waters from the toilet into your bowels cleaning you; sort of bidet system if you will.
