ABOUT THIS VIDEO
Getting to visit The Masters as a patron is one of the greatest experiences in all of sports. The Masters is unlike any golf tournament, or sporting event you've ever been to. It's the most well-oiled machine you've ever seen, and it's probably the only major sporting event you'll attend where you'll actually feel like everything is a good deal.
But if you've never been, and especially if you only have one day, it can be a little overwhelming. So here are my ten tips for what to do in order to make sure you have the best, most memorable tournament experience possible.
And you can click the link above to check out our written version, which goes into even more details about what to do throughout the day, as well as where to stay, and where to golf when visiting the Masters as well.

Additional tip - I assume this is still available (I went in 2016) - After making your purchases you can have them shipped directly from the course. I believe it was right around the corner from the main merchandise tent. Just keep the chair you just bought, put everything else in a box and hand it off to be shipped. You do pay for shipping, but there's going to be too much to take on the plane anyway!

Agree with everything you say. I’ve been 3x and walking the back nine early in the morning when there are no golfers on it was a fantastic experience not to be missed. My wife and I put our chairs by the 18th green and then left them there for hours.

Great tips Shawn. Here are a few more. If you want "on the rope" seats, plan to arrive at ANGC by at least 6am. The club actually sets up chairs outside the main gate for the early birds to wait. DO NOT expect to get rope seats on Amen Corner from the main gate...use the back gate. It enters the back nine. Like you mentioned, plant your chair and don't worry about it again. If the course is wet or expecting rain, wear waterproof Softspikes and take an umbrella (they are allowed). Spikes also help on the hills as the course is very slippery when wet. Sandals or flip flop are a bad idea at ANGC. Visit the merch shop early then use the complimentary bag check booth nearby to store your items all day and pick them up as you leave. There are large merch shops at the front and back entrances. Small merch booths are located on the course. Agreed, take a small digital camera with a screen to practice rounds. Besides capturing the beauty of the course and your fav golfers, the camera is useful to find players on the course. ANGC DOES NOT publish practice round tee times or pairings. They do, however, post the pairings on small info boards around the course as each group tees off on #1 or #10. Take a picture of those boards when you encounter one. Using 15-20 minutes per hole, you can figure out where your fav players are on the course once they have teed off. Having the camera allows you to have a "pairings sheet" with you at all times. Note, many players today only play 9 holes during the practice round. Don't think you can wait to see a player at the turn because they may head to the clubhouse after 9. Eat an egg salad sandwich (the best!) and call your buddies back home to gloat using the bank of phones located discretely around the course. Priceless!

I recommend getting there early then walk the course in sequence- start at one tee box and go from there. It’s awesome and really hilly. After purchasing your merch, they have storage service to hold your goodies until the time you wanna leave but I also recommend the shipping service to send it all back home. Enjoy your experience to the fullest !!!

Ditto to what was said below about the Pro Shop...when the gates open, make a beeline for the merch shop, get everything you want and walk it around the corner to the UPS station to have it shipped home. If you wait till later in the day, things may be picked over and not readily available. After that, walk the course, it's heaven! My wife walked out on the first fairway, touched the grass, and said "This is nicer than our carpet!" Yes, it's that's magnificent. Funny story...We were behind the green on #10, which is a spectacula view, and the man next to us was so overwhelmed he laid back in the grass to enjoy the blue sky and towering pines..it's perfect. Except a marshall came over and said " Please sit up sir, we don't do that here at The Masters." The man apolgized, the marshall said he understood, all was forgiven...There are rules there, but everyone is so cordial and dialed in to how wonderful a specticle it is, it makes it a bucket list experience!

Having been inside the gates 3 times (one for dcp) my advice is bring someone who loves to shop so you don’t have to waste a minute not looking at the course. Also don’t risk waiting for the end of the day for shopping or anything you want to do because they do get thunder/lightning storms and because safety is first you will have leave the premises immediately. Also because of the no cell phone rules, it’s important to have a plan with your group. I would say to meet at the car because anywhere else may not be an option. You may have to exit at different gates. And again, no cell phone. Our first time the year reed won we walked the back 9 early morning with Sergio and Joaco and then the front with Tiger and everyone else. And then we followed Jack and Gary and Watson who won the par 3. I Met Barbara! I got autograph from her on a visor. And then my kid got Jack to sign the visor behind the 9th green; and Jack says: “oh the boss signed it”. That’s after being directly behind jacks grandson when he made that ace. It’s a truly magical place that literally anyone would enjoy.

Pretty much spot on assessment. I agree with most everything, including the best viewing areas. I prefer the 16th Tee, as the 15th Green is close, and the restrooms/concession area is immediately behind the bleachers there... a HUGE consideration if you're my age! One thing to keep in mind... the course is BRUTAL TO WALK if you're out of shape. The clubhouse is the high spot, Amen Corner, the low. Everything in between is reminiscent of roller coaster topography. Cheers.

@8:38 - I have never been, but I've read that the Masters merch tent offers bag storage that you can use, so you don't have to carry your purchases around all day. Sounds like it's best to go early for that, however, as they will run out of storage and then you may get stuck carrying all your goodies. I also saw that they also offer UPS shipping onsite, so you can pay a little extra money and send your gear back home right from Augusta.

Pro tip: if you purchase (or bring) folding chairs - no armrests allowed- you can go to your preferred spot: 9 or 18 green, landing area of 15, 16 green, 12 tee, etc. you can place them and no one will move or mess with them. You can roam around the course and come back to your favorite spot anytime throughout the day. Your seat will be there waiting for you.
