Pretty good for your first manifold. A little tip... you can wire brush and polish the tubes before hand to that its purdy once its completed. Also, having a large block to bolt the flange down to while you are welding it up will help prevent any warping that might occur. You can use any large block from a scrap recycler...just drill the bolt pattern and tap the threads (a large block of aluminum is easier to work with....I recommend that).

pretty nice. remember that it's how the welds look on the inside that really counts, make sure you get that penetration all around. bolt the flange to something solid that can draw the heat and make sure you get minimal warping to shave down later. and run a bead on the inside lip on the turbo flange to the collector :D turbo everything!

Manifold looks awesome. I remember reading on the HMT forum like 12 years ago that the engine flange should be bolted down to something otherwise it would warp when welded. I have no idea if that's true or not.

Ryan R it is true, but not always possible or practical, you should always have the flange face machined flat after fabrication regardless.

You are 100% correct, if he were doing this in a reproducible fashion, he should have made a jig first, then built it on the jig. The way he did it is inconsistent.

What do you mean by model? Also just because you can do it one way, doesn't mean that's the only way. Typically a complete prototype part is made and tested before a design is finalized.

great job on the fab and welding. I'd check the flatness of the turbo and manifold flanges because being stainless itl probably be warped. You should of tacked the flanges down to a thick piece of steel before welding. Having said that the job looks great, nice job 👍

In my ideal world you'd be fucking around with different technologies for boost, one thing I've seen is putting a throttle plate in front of the turbo inlet that closes when you let go of the throttle, it'll create a vacuum that lets the turbo keep spinning and prevent unwanted pressure in your piping. I've seen it done on F1 turbo setups.
