@Arolbreaker7 жыл бұрын
following this build since day 1! loving the progress on it. i was gonna say... you should just go ahead and cut up the trunk firewall ahead of time. every k series build ends up cuting it up to fit big turbos, it's a lot easier and not really necessary. also, can I ask what welding setup you used for that manifold? tungsten, filler, gas lens size, gas flow etc... it looks soo good for not having backpurged!
@Jackal9405 Жыл бұрын
people hate on log manifolds , but i like them , very little boost creep, if any, nice and easy installation. For most people it's all they need for their stock motor power goals.
@Sermienterpintor7 жыл бұрын
When you end up doing the next turbo manifold for it, I hope you go with a design similar to the hatch. And actually, you had it right the first time. The pipe should actually be smaller than the whole in the flange. The proper way is: Oval the pipe until it fits in the flange, tac weld it to the flange on the wide sides, then hammer the pipe into the corners with something blunt, weld all the way around inside n out. it'll stretch to fit perfect trust. I think its Finnegans Garage that has a video on how to properly make turbo headers, very informative. I know this one was kinda thrown together as a mock up and to get the car running. But for the next one ;). Anyway. Keep it up. Much love to the boosted bois.

This is Tig style welding right? When you have the rod and feed it manually and weld it in to mate everything together? I’ve never welded, but I’ve done plenty of woodwork and carpentry and wanted to get into a welding class, or possibly invest in some materials/gas and try to teach myself with the internet and lots and lots of practice. One thing I know everyone says about welding is it takes lots and lots of practice, and is harder than it looks. My dad has at least two different style of welders and a mask he’d let me use he just doesn’t have time to teach me. Pops used to make dune buggy’s and Baja bugs in the backyard for fun when he was my age so I need to start learning! I wish my high school had offered a metal shop or something.

Nice work man!! You are maybe half my age, but man you do have some pretty killer skills! I have a MK1 MR2 4AGE auto that I would LOVE to have a turbo set-up that you made bolted onto! Would you give your advice on what turbocharger would work well on a fresh, basically stock 4age bottom end, with a ported, largeport head?
@coffelt6837 жыл бұрын
Charlies wagon had a similar displacement motor pushing 450hp but with a mild engine build. The 1.6 4age might work well with a similar style setup, maybe check out some of the older vids.
@sanfordrhudy7747 жыл бұрын
Jacob Coffelt hey man,, did he have to use a special ecm, like Megasquirt or something? I'm really only looking to run around 7lbs of boost so that I can keep the stock electronics. I'm on a verrry limited budget, soooo everything I do will have to be junkyard dog versions ; -)

Low'n Negative couple options on a MR2. IN THE boot is a option. Or next to the vents on the quarter panel (that's stock for the 3SGTE) or even get a turbo bonnet and have it sit right by the vents with giant fans
