Great overview, as usual, Mike. This game is very similar to the La Bataille series of games published by Clash of Arms Games (CoA). FYI: I believe the designer, Terry Doherty, was involved in the redesign of CoA's La Bataille de la Moskowa game, so many similarities can be found regarding gameplay, as well as the units and the maps. I can't wait to see your playthrough. Cheers!

Great to see a company tackling some of the lesser known battles. As soon as I heard there were three sets of rules the choatic mess of La Batialle series immediately comes to mind. The less than functional idea of making the counters reflect the uniforms of the time is also present.

Happy that you covered this, Zilla. I have Talavera and Vimiero by The Gamers, and I love the Brigade Series games, but I especially like the more granular simulations out there. This looks fantastic. Buying in was a no-brainer.

Very interesting game system. I don't play much Napoleonic era games but this could change that. Thanks!

Lock’n’Load, eh? So we might be able to get our hands on this in 2027 😉? I’ll rewatch my Sharpe DVDs while waiting 😅. Excellent presentation as always Zilla 👍.

Great video, Mike! What an impressive and monumental effort. This is a young man's game. I can only imagine the eye strain scanning over the board trying to pry details from the counters. Same with the player aids. I think you'd spend more time searching for the right aid than playing the game! As you can tell, and as you could guess from my gaming style, this style of game is not my thing. There was a time when I would have been salivating at the detail and granularity, thinking it meant greater realism. Now I just shake my head and see an inelegant heap of chrome coming between me and authenticity. Like I said, probably hits all the right buttons for some!

Definitely a lot of depth and granularity here, but much of it comes at the higher levels. So for the lower levels you only need a couple of the player aids and much of the more complicated mechanics don't come into play. But still, definitely a game with some meat on it. :)

That was thoroughly enjoyable, particularly liked the close ups of the contents and your take on the difficulty levels. While the game has an appeal, I doubt I will purchase due to the two sheets of markers which will be a nightmare for my eyesight. Looking forward to any play throughs you may upload. Hopefully JU 87 is not too far away Many thanks.

Wow--mostly off-topic, but the pictures of some of the commanders and the stuff around their necks! They could NOT bend their head down at all?? So had to literally bow all the time. ;-p Wonder if they were strong enough to blunt a saber slice? But if they were TOO starched and you DID bend your head, would you slice yourself open? ;-p

The collars are thick cotton material like the shirt . Good enough to keep out the winter day and night cold. Not useful in Spain's warmer climate. But used to show ranks a lot of the time. Not saber proof they were super sharp

@@Rusty_Gold85 Heh--it was tongue-in-cheek about being able to stop a saber; it was clearly an evolution of metal gorgets which COULD stop a saber, though. What I had NOT thought about is the rank thing--if he lost his fancy hat you would still know he was an officer by that frill!

I often think of that aspect of warfare, like it's hard enough to be at war and in combat, but the gear and supply issues (water, food) for ancient combat must have been even more horrific.

@@ZillaBlitz I enjoyed the review and game looks great. This was Junot's fiasco that robbed him of his future Marshall's Baton.

Thanks! And that's right, isn't it. Napoleon had promised Junot a great promotion and then withheld it? And the peace agreement got the British negotiator in a lot of trouble as well.
