Haha! I also like Stuka Joe's sequence of play cards. Those work really well in certain games too. :)

Nice Zilla that flow chart is a game changer. When I played The Hunters and downloaded a user made flowchart it made playing the game real easy. They need flow charts if possible on all these solitaire games
@ZillaBlitzАй бұрын
I agree. It's a bit geeky, for sure, but it makes what could be a confusing sequence into something very clear to follow. Really like the idea.
@SoloBattlesАй бұрын
Even if you only use it once or twice, just having that initial guide is huge. Too many times, those hurdles have left me hating on a game I might have really enjoyed.
@joeyj6808Ай бұрын
@@SoloBattles I made one for my solo-ing Schutztruppen, and it made the whole thing flow so much better.

Definitely something I should do more often, is jot down a sequence like this. I'll often make lists of steps to do in an action, or DRMs that aren't collected in one place. But I probably would benefit from creating a small sequence of play list like this now and then.

I'm very curious to see how that chart handles multiple types of calculations. There are a few errata counters they are mailing out to everyone who has purchased the game, and once they arrive I'll get this to the table. :)

I believe that the damage markers (the ones where you rotate the chit to represent the amount of damage) will placed on each sub (one per sub). The area damage could represent the bow, stern or midships, with a damage chit for each area of the ship.
@ZillaBlitzАй бұрын
Aha, okay that makes sense, yes. I think the fact that there are four area damage markers and three areas on the Corvette made me think the area damage markers were for something else. And I thought the rotational markers with numbers on them would be exclusively for the crew, but yes, I imagine they could be used to track U-Boat damage as well.

Bought this one on a flier. I normally do more research before buying a game, but this one looked interesting. Having said that, I haven’t gotten it to the table yet, but I already have buyer’s remorse. No way I will ever play the full campaign given its length. I found the rules to be unclear in a number of places as well. And, I agree with your comments on how some of the tracking is probably a manual process. I’ll try a single convoy playthrough, but I suspect I’ll be trading this one away soon.
@ZillaBlitzАй бұрын
I'm very much looking forward to playing it. I think the rules will sort themselves out, and if the gameplay is fun I'm fine with a long campaign. Might be possible to adjust the campaign length as well.

Just so you know, a corvette is not a class but a type of warship. Here's an example: The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) is the tenth and final Nimitz-class supercarrier (which is a type of warship) of the United States Navy. More importantly, WHERE can I buy this WONDERFUL game & for HOW MUCH? By the way, are you going to be focusing on solitaire board games of whatever genre? Also, could you provide critiques that could improve the game that you're reviewing? If so, I'll GLADLY subscribe to you henceforth!

- Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated. - There is a link in the description to War Diary Publications site and that's where to order it direct. - The overall goal is wargames, not exclusively solitaire, but I generally show gameplay in solitaire mode, and at the very least talk about how a game will play solitaire even if it's not a solitaire wargame. - I usually show gameplay and give impressions of gameplay, but to be fair probably don't critique games to the point where I offer how I would improve a particular game, although I often will mod a game I'm playing to shift gameplay in a direction I might like. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. - Thanks for stopping in. :)

@@ZillaBlitz THANKS for your prompt reply! Re: your game mods to improve gameplay, could you please include that, as well? It would help to make them understandable & easier to play. In addition, is it possible for you to come up with rule mods to transform a multi-player board wargame into a solitaire war game & vice-versa? Just a thought. The reason why I want to get into solitaire board wargames is because: 1.) There are hardly any others nearby who have the same interests & 2.) In the event of a power outage or worse, at least I'd still be able to keep sane with solitaire board games. Again, these are just suggestions. And I'm GLAD to know that you're into wargames! Cursed few of us are around nowadays which is ironic considering World War 3 could start at any time. Anyway, I wish you THE BEST with your channel, your life & your other ventures! Till next time!

I purchased a copy and was disappointed. Even if the rule book were clear (and it’s not, at all).. there just isn’t any game here. I can’t see where there’s a single meaningful decision to be made. Everything is a die roll or card draw. Deciding which role gets a skill increase might be the on,y one.. and that happens, what.. a few times in a multi year campaign? Just can’t recommend it.

I got a bit swamped with real life and incoming games, so I haven't had a chance yet to get this one to the table. Sometime in November, though. I'm fine with a game that has minimal choice, to be honest. I'm curious to see what I think, thanks for sharing. )
