Really pleased with this visit. A very no facility station but with and excellent assortment of workings. I arrived about 10.45 and left at 2pm. Off the narrow platforms and down in to the street there is a variety of food outlets including MacDonalds and a Baguette shop.

Nice. A good mix. Every now and then some of videos stand out like this one with that Class 59. Used to enjoy seeing and hearing those back in the triple grey era on the camp hill line just down from Kings Norton.

I cant believe all the years you have been interested in the railways that you've never been to Reading West Station for filming freight Keith, on the plus side you found the food outlets. Enjoyable video mate.

Yes Keith a cracking day for you and lots to see . That Yeoman 59 earlier in the vid was one of the longest I've ever seen ,thinks the 59is in the Guinness book of records for recording the longest freight ,and not been bettered either (in the UK,that is)what pulling power .Now if your visit to Reading West had been one week earlier we would have met on Banbury ! it will happen one day .Cracking session from you ,and 30minutes of sheer freight delight ,speak soon ,call you at weekend cheers Nick .

Yes indeed, 59005 holds the record for the longest ever train in UK, at a mile long and over 11,000 tons on a test in 1991, beating a previous record in 1986. Awesome machines them 59's, not as much torque as a 60 tho! :)

Nice weather and plenty of freight, you can't ask for much more than that :-) Nicely timed to see the plain IET which was an LNER one going to Eastleigh as they're struggling at Doncaster and North Pole. 66704 was Wellingborough to Whatley, you could have gone on that! lol

Yeah wow nice vid sir! Plenty of action for these days. I went to West once in 1988 to sneak into Reading depot to foto the 2 class 97 dept shunters. And there's ya Hinksey Yard car train, like you said, following in at 24 mins with 66221 at the helm, nice! An ex driver (an ex lol) said they often loaded on the Dagenham's, which she drove, with the maximum load of 55 units (21ft SLU's), the longest in UK!! And yes, the super-trains (42 wagons i counted) from the Mendips, split-up at Acton for various terminals. Nice ending of 66075! Splendid stuff! I have subbed! :D

Indeed, the train at 24 mins is usually the longest train in UK, the 'auto-motives' from Cowley. An ex of mine drove these Cowley's, running at up to 75mph, which was quite scary apparently, compared to the usual stone trains heehee!
