Well brother, you're living the dream.... At least my dream---to own a Kenworth K100 Aerodyne. Given her age and after sitting nearly a decade in the elements, it really is amazing how resilient these old rigs are. While I wouldn't necessarily grab a trailer and start hauling loads with her, she starts and moves around! When you think about it, that's pretty incredible. An amazing truck. Good luck with this project!! It's a big one, but you got her just in time and I can't wait to see the beautiful end result no matter how long it takes you.

looking good already, Hay its Paul from New Zealand. The first generations of the classic Aerodyne Kenworths from the 1980s are very rare here in NZ. Infact the total number that made it to NZ would be less than 10 to 20 units. They were a big eye catcher in their day. not too many Aerodynes with the square head lights made it here at all. I would like to see "Lenny the Kenny" taken back to a normal tractor unit length, and keep it age appropriate. Give it back its classic look. can't wait to see its progresss over the next few years. keep on trucking man

G'day Mike. You'll need to remove the pivot pin from the brake pedal. There's a alloy piston under it and it may have swollen with corrosion. Remove the piston buff it up and reinstall. That's were it'll be jammed. Watching from Queensland Australia.

Good project, nice truck, glad you grabbed it :-) My first tool on used chassis & bodies, is Ajax Cleanser. Maybe you'all don't have that brand up north ... But some kitchen scouring powder with bleach is great. It will gently remove the oxidation on aluminum and painted surfaces, especially white paint. It will take out the rust stains nicely. Don't use silicone on anything you might paint ... Some sort of rubberized caulk that specifically says "paint-able" is best for now. After finding what all is wrong, you can go to more permanent caulk. Twin mufflers will pass enough, more than any single. Mufflers good, quiet good, less headaches going down the road. Like to hear my tunes, not the exhaust so much.

Greetings from the Ohio Porters. 🇺🇸 This is the 1st of your videos that I’ve seen. We love cabovers…Cabovers Rule is our philosophy! 🥰 The one thing, of maybe several, that would make this KW even better is if it had a Cat engine under it. 😎 It sure cleaned up pretty well. Ok, I’m not picky when it comes to a name but, if you refer to it as “Her” then don’t call it “Kenny”. Sounds a bit off. I’m glad that you saved this truck..it was the right time to do so. So, what really made you go for it? I don’t think you mentioned it. Not everyone likes the old cabovers. I’ve loved rigs since I was about 5 years old…when I climbed up into my dad’s K100 KW. What a trip it was for me. I was driving at 7 years old. Looking forward to seeing this beauty come alive. Check out your right front tire…looks low…maybe it was leaking when you pointed it out.

@jamesbell87493 жыл бұрын
Just finished the video. Looks 100% better. Ok, maybe find a set of cutoffs since the frame has been cut already. Front half looks good cleaned up. Needs at least 2 more feet of wheelbase. Stay with a KW frame if you can. I think Neway has the most simple design, and looks the best, but is not necessarily the best performer. A bit more difficult to find on a KW frame, I ordered mine specifically in 1996. (T800 High Hood). PS- Make sure the axels have "Hub Pilot" hubs. Ask a friend. Budd wheels looked cool but a pain to service. Really, hub pilot wheels are the best.

good on you mike , rare truck for sure , rough truck yea, fixable hopefully ,, cabs can fall apart if rivets start to pop , watch for cracks in windscreen pillers to the roof , dash board cracked up tell me she is fatigued , but if it's real bad windows can fall out , i'd replace the bad rivets 1st , not sure if you will get the original rivets but you can get subitute to use instead , done my 82 k100 cab myself , tip get scissor rivet gun or air , those rivets bit hard with normal rivet gun, remove the corrossion of alloy panels then replace rivet

@m35a2ww3 жыл бұрын
Well, it has a rebuildable aftercooler, so that means it is not the first series of the 88NT. The smoke/miss on start could be a couple of things. First, the oil jumpers, the plastic ones that go into the injectors. Early ones IIRC were black plastic and liked to blow the plug out of them. This will not show as low oil pressure, but results in the oil being shunted away from the STC manifold/injectors. Take the lids off and have a look when running, if there is ALOT of oil at one injector and none forward of the one spewing the oil, that is your issue. Do all of them while you are there. Another thing, STC valve o-rings/barrel and plunger. Take the fuel pressure sensing line off of the FSOV and see if there is oil in it, it will be black and not fuel colored. That is a sign the STC valve is in need of repair. Yet another thing! I saw the oil pressure came up slowly. See if the engine has a viscosity sensor. Easy way to tell is to look at the sensing line on the lube pump. If it is the small looped steel line, it does not have one. The oil pressure SHOULD jump to 80 plus PSI at start, not uncommon to see 100 psi cold elevated idle with the viscosity sensor installed. Also, OP looked low, 10 PSI at idle. Look at the regulator in the lube pump, it is a very common issue. If your engine does not have a viscosity sensor, I have a new....well old now, but never used one i'll donate to you. I started working at Cummins in 1988, saw and been into more of these engines than I care to remember. There were also other issues. I'd like to chat with you on it. Contact me through my channel if you like, and I can fill you in on some other issues that make the engine run much better and be more reliable and what to look for. m35a2ww

You've got a project there that's for sure, time to invest in a sand blaster, sand blast parts, prime them move onto another section do the same. I'm surprised you're not wanting to go tri-drive lol, I think if you could find a clip with a set of Meritor 40s its all you need its not like you're gonna be grossing 63,5 with this old girl.
