The hood is amazingly good condition for sitting on the ground all those years. Here in Louisiana it would have rusted away. I had to buy a brand new hood for mine off Ebay, it’s pretty close to the original. I haven’t bought new dog legs or grille yet.$$$$ Welcome to the world of N tractors, you may get classic tractor fever now.

Super cool video. I’m amazed that it fired right up after 30 years and ran on 3 cylinders good enough to drive it. Sounded like the 4th cylinder freed itself up as it was purring at the end. There’s something about good old American made equipment. It’s a shame that most of our manufacturing has been outsourced to China and other places over the decades. Love the power washing. So satisfying to watch!

I watched the video of you guys pulling that out the old tractor. When you grabbed the hood did you look through all the stuff for the grill. It would complete the project. On my wife's family farm in Southern Illinois there is an early 40's Ford tractor just like that one. It runs and via PTO operates a flail mower. It boils over constantly and the tires are hard and full of water but it starts right up and works like the day it was new. Very cool project.

The "N" series Ford tractors are great little machines. I believe you will end up needing to do a valve job on this one. Not too difficult and should make for a good video. If you have not been warned about riding the clutch on these considered yourself warned now. I've split many to replace clutches... not my favorite. Enjoy and stay safe.

If I am not mistaken that cab was an option. Our school district has 2ns they used to mow with. Of course they were painted with the school colors. They also had tops very similar to these as I wanted one to go on our 8n but could not find/afford one. Would have made baling hay a bit better for the driver. Texas sunshine in July can be a lot of fun. I have to admit the 2n does look a bit better cleaned up but I still want a cab for mine!

Think you will find that the tractor will shift a lot easier if you disengage the PTO sir? We had 3 of these on our farm when I was younger, that made a world of difference. Only engage PTO when you are going to use it, like 3 point or equipment. Probably found out about this already because I’m just now looking at prior videos. Love both channels sir, thank you

my father bought a 8n from an estate sale, we got it running and went home to get a trailer and when we got back 1 hour later she sold it out from under us. and said she would pay us back someday. the guy she sold it to had to rebuild the rear diff and brakes as it locked up on him in the field.

It may be calcium chloride used as ballast in your rear tires...it is very corrosive and tough on the rims. Even though it may have been put in an inner tube, over time leaks can occur allowing it to get to the rim. I went away from that to pie weights on my 8N.
