As a language teacher, I'm awestruck by your command of English idioms. Then there's the piano and the other languages. Bravo! I agree with your reservations about post-modernism. The history of the novel seems like a far more worthy pursuit.

I appreciate your fine music selections that cameoed @ the start of the video. There's a kind of retro-vibe I'm picking up, quite soothing for the weekend. So you study in Vienna! That's awesome. I've been there in 2007 with mum. One of my best traveling experiences in my lifetime ever ✈, hands down! Remembering the old, idyllic cobbled streets, horse drawn carriages, imperial palace. Just a whole another world altogether. Ever thought about learning French in Montreal?

I’m watching your video on Oscar night here in the U.S. and I must say yours struck me as cinematic. The editing was fun! The train, sitting on the steps with your friend, the way you had built up tension going to the psychiatric poetry seminar and then you did such a quick cut saying didn’t get it. And the piano playing! My goodness when you started the dramatic Bach! And the candles were visible in the reflection. You play so well. Wow. What a renaissance person. Finally, at one point t I felt you were reading my diary. Each class I take I learn so much and realize how little I know. I listen to the professors dissecting each line from a novel, discussion allusions to classical texts I don’t know and I’m exhilarated and discouraged at the same time. Exhilarated because I love it so much and discouraged because I think - I’ll never be able to teach like that. But I don’t have time to be discouraged. I have essays to write and more reading to do and reflection. So, I continue with faith because I love reading and writing and discussing authors and connections them with other authors, it’s all such joy. So, congratulations on expanding your video landscape, it was so enriching and inspiring to see how wide ranging your days and interests are!

loved this video :) have you read Kate Briggs's "This Little Art"? A lot of it talks about translating Mann's Der Zauberberg into English - sounds like it is up your alley !

So nice to get a glimpse into your life!! The vlog was lovely and very calming/relaxing to watch. It's great to hear you talk about your studies, and the doubts and insights about the classes you (want to) follow. I understand your doubts about Postmodern literature; I don't always like it and there definitely needs to be a sort of emotional element for me, a care for the characters, and not solely a smart and intellectual story in terms of the form (this is also I think where something like the new sincerity movement and someone like David Foster Wallace comes in). One of my favorite postmodern stories is the short novel Pnin by Nabokov. Have you read it? By the way, the blue baret looks spectacular and suits your hair and eyes so well

It would be worth softening the wax at the bottom of the candles, and forming them into the candle holder. Loose candles always seem to have a way of falling out of candle holders like that.

Or perhaps you put him in your pocket? An ex-Girlfriend once told me she wanted to carry me round in her pocket all day, so we could spend more time together, so the sweetest of her.

Do you edit your own videos ? This is by far your best . Have you thought about film school. ?
@strange.lucidity6 ай бұрын
Thank you a lot. 🙏 Yes I edit them myself, I really love it. And yes I have thought about it but in the end, literature is a greater passion. I like storytelling through visuals, but I don't actually watch very many movies at all. So I don't know how well a film school would fit me...
