First Week with Maverick!

My first week with Maverick Transportation. Really, just focusing on all the errors I made on my my first day. I didn't confirm the address with the customer. I didn't adequately look out for obstacles. Root cause: the love of money.
Maverick is a great company to work for. I really hope I can keep this job.

Just left maverick two weeks ago. Been with Maverick about 11 mths. Wasn't bad but I found a job closer to home and more pay as a switcher. Good luck!

Praying for you man! Don’t get to stressed about it. Once when I was working delivering Fitness equipment, I was supposed to bring a truck full of equipment to Minnesota. I left early and just jumped in the truck I thought was mine. I got all the way to southern Minnesota before my boss called me and said I got in the wrong truck and I was driving an empty truck 😂 it happens

Be careful going by the in house GPS, it can take you on routes you're not suppose to be on. I always used trucking GPS and my atlas, you can create a custom route going by your atlas for you to follow. My first few weeks with Maverick I got stuck in a Publix parking lot and had to wait for the store to close and all the cars to leave. Also your FM should give you directions in the work assignment. You can enter any directions into trucking gps too, it helped me out a lot. I think its 29 a month but its worth it. Keep at it though man, gets easier.

Shingles are always heavy, Tamko in Fredrick, MD is a real treat. Everything gets easier after a couple months. Take your time, and learn your way of doing things. Speed comes with repetition. Getting stressed out or panicking only causes bad decisions. (Which wind up on conference calls with the safety department)

@@williambrewer it's an odd way of life, it'll consume you in several ways, you'll either love it or hate it. But if you love it, there's nothing else in the world you'll want to do. You'll actually grow to miss it when you're not doing it.

Thanks. It's not starting off much better. I've been broke down all weekend in Ottowa and can't make my delivery. I'm sure I'll get the hang of this eventually. I got my CDL though MTC in Missouri. Maverick will train you and get you your licence. They'll pay you $700 a week while you're on training too. Maverick is the way to go!

What's the pay for 3 years experience?

$3,000 Sign-On Bonus for all drivers with 6+ months of OTR experience within the 5 years. Starting Pay Regional & OTR Flatbed $.59-$.63.5 per mile. I think it depends on what region you will be in.
