if i were you i'd get a little coffee table! even like a cushioned stool with a cute tray on top could work. if you're sitting on your couch and drinking something and want to set it down in front of you it's nice to have! otherwise if you put it on the floor (and especially if it's something like red wine!!) you could potentially tip it over. and lit candles on a coffee table is such a relaxing vibe while watching tv!

You honestly might want a small coffee table right in front of the couch for when you're relaxing and want a place to set your drinks/popcorn/whatever on. (You won't want to keep getting up from the couch to walk to the table & grab your stuff!) If you're worried about it looking cluttered, maybe go for a coffee table that is clear or made of a really sleek material

IMO I think that coffee tables are essential! They're kind of a gathering place for friends to circle around if you're hanging in your living room. You'll also have a place to set cups and etc. Maybe just get a small coffee table and then a skinny end table to against the wall and the couch.

the ikea gladom side table would look good next to the couch! and it’s super cheap (literally $20). you’ll probably want a table of some kind so you can set down your coffee or whatever while you’re sitting on the couch! the apartment is really coming together and it looks so great!

i would get a little stool & sit a tray on it w a candle & a coaster or something! id also get a small little end table for the side of the couch by the door, to put like a lamp on & stuff. i feel like it looks a little odd w no end table. i think both would be cute together but if you only do one id get an end table! also im OBSESSED w those emerald chairs they looks great!

I hate clutter so I’d say no to the vanity. I have very minimal makeup so I just leave it in a basket and do it wherever the lighting is best in my apartment ! everywhere is a vanity if u try hard enough 🤪

You could add bookcases from Ikea behind your couch. It would add interest and depth to your space. A small table/coffee would anchor the room. Find something that could hold blankets so it serves two purposes.

Tashana McDonald I used to be wary of what I wore in different situations, like I would literally plan out my outfit “I’m going to the gym in a sports bra but I need to stop at the gas station and I’ll get catcalled so let me take a sweater.” I’ll still get harassed when I’m covered up so I don’t adjust my outfits because of shitty men. Wear what you want and if you feel uncomfortable, don’t blame your clothes, blame that annoying person.

Great vlog! Coming from someone that had sort of the same problem as you with the couch and coffee table situation, I'd definitely get a small maybe round coffee table. IKEA has one that also has storage underneath, if you need it. I'd put it closer to the couch so that it doesn't look cluttered with the dining table. Also since the coffee table will be pretty small, I'd get a side "table" for that little space next to the wall. Again, this is just my ideas and I'm sharing cause I used to have the same problems.

new york has been my dream city as well, like you, since i was a teenager. same thoughts i have regarding the people who get to live or work there, i hope i get to be like you someday, hope to live them as that city is a lifestyle in itself. keep making the vlogs love em.

totally depends on the neighborhood in nyc whether or not you wear less or more! downtown tends to be younger and thus more open with showing more skin whereas the further uptown you go the more conservative it tends to be (more families and older generations). I regularly walk around in crop tops and sports bras downtown (esp. the village, LES, FiDi, etc.)

You should get the Ikea shoe rack dresser thing for under the mirror in your room.. it's very narrow and will give you a shelf for pictures or a spot to do makeup.. plus it stores a bunch of shoes! And you can Pinterest hack it..

Hi! I moved to NYC a couple years ago and at first, I was scared to go places at night/ walk certain places alone/ wear workout clothes in the streets. After a while I came to realize Manhattan is incredibly safe and mostly all of my fear was coming from the stigma around NYC created by movies and TV shows. Of course, don't do anything you are uncomfortable with, and go by the basic safety rules but as you settle you will see you can be a lot more comfortable in public! I'm from NC too so it was quite the switch but you'll get it!

get narrow side tables to go on each side of your couch! measure the dimensions and im sure you can find some that would fit perfectly. I have two small side tables on either side instead of a coffee table and it works great for me
