Great video! It really resonated with me since I’m in the BS/DO program at NYITCOM and originally from Texas, so being far from home has been tough and being treated like an outsider has also taken a toll on me. Unfortunately, it seems like this is just part of the journey to becoming a physician. Upperclassmen have mentioned that medical school and residency will also take a huge toll on family time. It’s disheartening how demanding and time-consuming the path to becoming a doctor can be.

This is all valid facts! I think it will take time, but eventually we will adjust to the new area. I hope everything works out for you!!

Congrats on passing your first semester of med school. You still have three more semesters of didactic and if you can apply your new studying and learning techniques gained from your first semester, you will be a rockstar med student. Keep the vlogs coming!

Thank you! In terms of getting scholarships in undergrad, I would try and look into your pre-health office for local scholarships. Most likely, those scholarships will be open to a small pool of people, which should increase your chances. In terms of writing, definitely include ancedotes and have a lesson on what you learned from those experiences.
