I can hardly wait . In Canada I have to hike one half mile to get to my cabin situated on a river in the wilderness . No power, plumbing, water and cell phones don't work there. That is roughing it!

Benita...I just wanted to say what an inspiration and motivator you are. Every time I finish one of your videos, I think, "Stop your (me) procrastinating and just DO it. Benita wouldn't put it off.. and if she did...she would be working on something else that needs to be done!" You obviously know how to channel your inner, much nicer Martha. When I see what you have accomplished over the years (I've been around since the early Chez Larsson days), I realize I have no excuses...and I thank you for that. When it comes to our homes, no matter what our styles are, we can always ask ourselves, "What would Benita do?" The answer always is..."She would get it done!!!"

😊 so true. I'm in the middle of a small update to my daughter's bedroom and my husband's home office. It's taken ages as I am also doing everything else I would normally do. This morning I filling in small cracks in the walls and suddenly felt like I was going to vomit. I decided to lie down for a bit and luckily I saw that Benita had posted a new video 😊😊😊😊. I still feel a bit light headed but I should just get it done 👍😊.

@@BenitaLarsson my mother’s family is from Austria and they were trained in various crafts like blacksmiths, carpentry, timber, etc. living on a farm with a 300 year old house they knew about restoring things to last! My mom married my American dad who loved all things carpentry and restoration. Then I married a carpenter/ restorer as well and have been apprentice to all the restoration of our old house and the wood strip canoes that he created. I’m more than happy to hang up my tools, but I so appreciate the history, beauty, and labor of love poured into each project. 🥰

At the moment I try to renovate it and go back to the former shape, before several renovations, that the former owners did. I just don't have too many skills for this work, but I love it and try to do my best. ;) Being 58 it is a real adventure for me! All the very best for you and your austrian relatives!!! One thing I really admire is how you add little touches of prettiness to the rooms even if they're not finished. We live in a 1910 house that requires continual upkeep (as well as long term projects) but your house reminds me to not just look at the things that need to be completed, but to look at the loveliness that already exists and to not give into discouragement when I look at the "Big List of Projects."

Such a lovely home you are restoring, Benita. Here in North America, old paint is lead paint. I’m glad that you don’t have to deal with paint toxins in Sweden. Looking forward to the next set of improvements! Would it be a good thing to save some of the wallpapers and frame pieces of them? You could create a gallery wall of various wallpapers, or just hang each framed wallpaper wherever. Perhaps the wallpapers would look nice surrounded by quite large, cream mats with matching frame stock.

How nice of you to share all the updates, it’s so interesting to see your discoveries and how priorities and plans change over time. Do you consider the new wood on the lower part of the exterior a temporary or permanent fix? It’s a very cost effective way to take care of the exterior, regardless 😊 I’m quite fond of «this will do us and the house well for many years, until it’s time to tackle the bigger thing». It’s so calming and wholesome. I’m gathering inspiration and ideas from you for our renovating projects. We have a 1930s cabin in the woods, and a small 17-1800s small timber farmhouse as our main home. The cabin is in most urgent need of renovation, but as we live in the farmhouse with 1990s interior «upgrades» and room changes… let’s just say my fingers itch to start the «putting things right» process. Looking forward to following along next season!

Great job so far on your summer house. Must be so gratifying. You look like a different person in your summer clothes; very fresh and full of vitality. You probably don't care but I think the difference is that you wear alot of black and neutral colors in the city. Really enjoyed the video. Ty.

The window repairs are so impressive -- it must be rewarding. I think not having running water would be a challenge for me. The place looks exquisite. Plenty to capture on future youtube videos! The music felt so relaxed and genteel yet the work looked challenging.

This house is really coming along! Repairing the windows alone is so time consuming but what a pleasure to see them looking so neat and fresh. I can imagine how fantastic the house will be in another year or two. Are you sure you don't need help? I'm really good at interiors! ;) Be very proud of yourself.
