Japan Erects Wall Blocking Mount Fuji View to Ward off Tourists | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest mountain. But soon, its view will be blocked. Japan is erecting an 8-foot wall to ward off tourists. Because tourists misbehave and overcrowd a popular photo spot near Mount Fuji. Japan is witnessing "overtourism" amid a travel boom. 33 million people are expected to visit Japan this year. In a first, Japan saw more than three million tourists in march. But this nation is hardly the only one. Tourism will break records globally in 2024. It will add $11.1 trillion to the global economy. But at the same time, overtourism will create an array of problems including overcrowding, infrastructure problems, and soaring housing costs. So many countries are battling overtourism with over-the-top solutions. Palki Sharma tells you how.

@Kumaradarsh893 actually, Palki is quite biased when it comes to topics related to India, China, and Pakistan most especially, and it is perfectly fine because she is human. In this report she included India as a destination that tourists ought to consider, but many of the folks I know, particularly girls, have said they'd never visit again because they don't believe it is tourist friendly; in contrast some of these same folks also visited the countries that were labelled as being less tourist friendly, and they actually loved it. Being prejudiced/biased is a consequence of personal experience or what concerns you directly, like in the case of Palki that is Indian and is always championing how great India is (and I agree with most), this is in no way HYPOCRISY.

You are right. But tourism has it's own problems as well. Mostly local people of the tourists area face problems like too much garbage people throw randomly, expensive markets, noise, too much unexpected traffic and much more. In india, authorities should be concerned about these problems as well with solutions only then they should promote more tourism.

Countries must come up with multiple solution for over-tourism. But tourists needs to keep their manners and show respects to local residents and all pubic and private areas. Some tourists stealing hotels’ belongings (pillow, tv, electronics and valuables). Packing multiple meals from breakfast buffet or pretending they paid for their meals… Tourists grabbing people’s arm with rare outfits whose on their way to work, just so the tourists can take multiple photos. Eyes being flashed, outfits ruined and showing up late to work is not pleasing at all. Cheery blossom trees take years to recover or they can easily get sick from an injury. It’s really heart-breaking to hear some tourists would shake and break branches for photos of good memories in Japan.

And everyone likes to talk shit about the US being anti this or that.......What percent of our population are immigrants? I am the first born of an immigrant in the US. We are the most accepting place in the world and if you don't believe that look at countries like this, as much as I love Japan and study their history, or even India who is only .4% immigrants. I don't want to hear diversity anything out of most other counties until they caught up to the US.

Sorry to burst your bubbles. Tourists aren’t the boss. You visit a country , respect their rules and culture. Don’t bring your stupidity and arrogance with you.

not a lot of countries consider tourists as guests, like here we say "atithi devo bhavah"... and we welcome them equal to a diety/god... but for them, tourists are just some trash people coming from trash countries, spreading trash and creating chaos... they have their own sets of high standards which tourists could not match, or are of lower blood lines. for them, tourists are nothing... its their ideology, we cannot impose our ideologies to them... they are like that.

Good for them. I was there a few months ago and the tourists are annoying and have no consideration for the local residents.

So, where should the tourists go to get the pic of Mt Fuji??
@realracing3specter295
@realracing3specter295 25 күн бұрын
Fuji is a lot bigger than people could imagine, there might hundreds of view points around the mountain. but its important to note that its visible from over 200 km distance as well. In that state, if you put your head out of your building/car/train, it would be easily visible (if there are no clouds)

Letting go Tourism revenue is not wise. Their currency has nose dived in past decade, while economy has stagnated. On the other hand they should build more and better vantage points, and maybe priced them $20 much like what European countries do for every tourist place in their country. Free FOREIGN CURRENCY REVENUE
