The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has released a report on the Indian workforce. It says, India's youth make up almost 83% of the unemployed population. Although youth employment saw an uptick from 2000 to 2019, the pandemic years have witnessed a sharp decline. The study points out that educated youths have faced much higher levels of unemployment during this period. This comes as leading economies - from Europe to China are also facing a jobs crisis.

Population dividend indeed! The problem is not just a huge population, but the poor quality of teaching staff at schools and colleges. Many job seekers have very poor communications skills in any language. Basic domain knowledge is also sketchy. So, govt intervention is needed and teaching staff's quality improved, to put out better quality candidates for the workforce. Job creation is a challenge anywhere, especially in a saturated population nation like India. Like Palki says, out of the box thinking required. BTW all the employable youth that i know personally are very well employed.

I was in a similar situation as yours but not for 2 years 😅, i graduated in 2013, no jobs, so what I started small, uoskilled myself, changed cities, came out of my comfort zone and gave more interviews, the thing is you have to keep on trying hard, upskilling yourself, you will definitely find what you desire. My suggestion is to implement "No child policy for Five years". This will give a breathing space for the system to absorb the backlog of unemployed to employment. Backlog of students to get admitted to schools and colleges etc. We'll see the benefits of this vacuum when the years go by.

As an architect i would like to tell you there is a major short supply of blue collar workers like plumbers, carpenters, artisans, masons etc., which is why these guys are also charging good amounts for theor hard earned labor. Most of their kids are going into engineering which is why this country is losing its indigenous building crafts. I work in a company which had man forces of 8000 people in 2021 and today they have man forces of 13000 people and they will have more than 20000 people working in that company by 2025 and they need workers daily. They are hiring people and they are running away before completing the day shift also. There is work everywhere. Just make up your mind to do the work given as per your skills, knowledge and experience. Salaries are paid as per your work. In any country in the world not everyone can get SARKARI Naukari, the so-called government job.
