In over 21 years, I worked with a lot of H-1B employees, sometimes entire teams or departments, and found they are not the geniuses they are reported to be. Many projects were delayed for lack of knowledge on coding or comprehension of the project. The main goal of an H-1B employee is to make upper management. Once on a higher level, responsibilities were pushed to someone else. Due to this, fake it until you make it mentality cost the company lost contracts, fines, and seasoned employees. Not all H-1B personnel are like this, but they are no better than American employees just cheaper.

Those contractors are mostly mediocre doing menial jobs. Those jobs could easily go to American graduates. For highly talented workers, there's a visa called O-1 visa. Use that.

First let me start with this. I love Indian people and have lots of friends that are Indian, but as an American, for far too long, these companies have exploited the H1Bs on both sides of the aisle. It's been my experience that employers tend to hire H1B workers over Americans exclusively, as well as that the salaries are not the same. As an example the salary range for a software engineer in America is 80K-100K. But they would hire an H1b for 40K to 50K to save money. This is a simple fix. Hire the most qualified person to do the Job and they must pay the prevailing wage. So no more exploiting the H1B candidates and give everyone who is qualified the positions they deserve.

I know of companies that misuse the H1B to hire low skilled employees or employees that aren't paid propotionately to their salary. We already get paid accordingly. Our wages are set by the immigration authorities and not by the companies. We only get an LCA license mandatory for visa if our pay, benefits match that of local candidates. Also, locals are the first preference for jobs as the companies don’t like to deal with visa extensions and stuff

@@genta74 bruh problem is not about protecting american self interest and livelihood. You can protect it in other ways without being racist. There is a growing trend of Indian Americans facing hate crimes by both the liberals and MAGA even though quite a handful of them voted for trump. Indians are being used as scapegoat for the problems Americans face. I won't be surprised if movements like #BrownLivesMatter comes up. Although I don't think that it would happen cause indians are generally thick-skinned and not much united compared to the blacks.

Indian primary education is a joke specifically in Gujarat. Not even single English medium public school. We paid road taxes and even highways aren't good, unemployment is on peek. That is the reason skilled people are going abroad. And yes religious disputes are another reason

There are so many Indians in the US. If the US allows the H1B to continue, 50% of those 1.4 Billion in India will head to the US. They are actually going to Canada as well and crossing the border illegally to the US. New York has plenty of Indians/ Asians. It will start to look like New Delhi or some Asian state.
