First off, india is not part of asean. Secondly, asean as an organization is not united when it comes to the south china sea issue, countries like cambodia, laos and myanmar are fully controled by china's money, then there's thailand who has no teritorial dispute with china so it stays away from that issue. Then there's the philippines who has been the most affected by this illegal chinese activity, so what it did is ask help from its oldest and only treaty ally, the US.

Filipinos doesn’t usually wants war they are known as defensive people even their characters as people are defensive not invasive. They even gave up their historical land (SABAH) to Malaysia for peace and no more war. But usually they set limits when that limits are abused you will find out . ARABS,GREEKS,SPANISH,PORTUGUESE,JAPANESE ,BRITISH/AMERICANS they’ve tried and won the battle but lost the war. Filipinos are known in resilience and so nationalistic when certain boundaries are abused. The thousand islands helped them overcome the odds and defeated colononizers though not in colonial war fashion but in gorilla warfare. China knows it very well that Filipinos just don’t die they keep reoccurring multiplying.

Being in your EEZ does not establish property it is your property. Being your EEZ just means you have exclusive rights to explore and develop the natural resources underneath the waves, that's it. THe EEZ is international waters, every ship of any nationality has a right to pass or be in it. The only sovereign waters of the Philippines extends 12 miles from the shore. This is what most filipinos is ignorant of.

HISTORICALLY, under Tang Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty until 1912, HAINAN is the southernmost territory of China. It was also adopted in the China's Republican Constitution in 1947. The official Spanish Map of the Philippines(1734) shows Scarborough Shoal (Panacot), Spratly Is (Los Bajos de Paragua) are part of Philippine territory.

Oops, this is in-accurate. The scarborough shoal is not part of the spratly islands but a shoal near the Philippines and deep within the Philippine EEZ. It was not claimed by china or Taiwan at all until they just to decided grab it under the failed leadership of former president Aquino and the trust he naively given to the Americans. The altercation in august where the chinese coastguard fired water cannons to the Philippine ships happened not in the scarborough shoal but in the 2nd thomas shoal. That shoal is the one that belonged to the Spratlys and yes it is farther from the Philippines than the scarborough but still well within tne Philippine EEZ.

You are doing misinformation, you do know the 9-Dash line claim of China, don't you? This is the claim they put out in 1947 which they reaffirmed in 1992. It claims all the islands, reefs, and shoals within a U-shaped line in the South China Sea drawn in 1947 as its territory. Scarborough Shoal lies within this area. So yes, Scarborough Shoals which they call Zhongsha Islands is part of their claim.

The US leases those bases, they don’t occupy the land or rule over the people. They are allies…occupy is when an adversary rules over the land of another country, like Russian in Eastern Ukraine.
