Who Drove the British Away - Mahatma Gandhi or Subhas Chandra Bose? | Flashback with Palki Sharma
As India celebrates yet another Independence Day, we take a look at the unanswered questions from the 1940s. Did non-violence alone drive the British away? Has India failed to embrace and acknowledge the leaders who did not subscribe to non-violence? Catch the answers on Flashback with Palki Sharma.

That was not non violence. It was simple strategy of bycotting British goods to decrease their profit margin and gaining indian debt. That worked too, British were in terrible fiscal balance, before independence, india was no longer profitable for British and these movements played huge part in it. Second thing you have said was quit india was non violent, check your fact before uploading video, even a tenth pass know ,quit india was one of the most violent movement that ever happened.Third thing you have said wrong is ,Gandhi wanted dominion status in 1938. Actually in 1929 Jawahar declared full independence as ultimate goal of congress. Gandhi himself promoted Jawahar for presidency that year. Dominion status was history for any congress member by 1938, let alone Gandhi. Also I respect Bose, and I do agree Ina trial was definitely the breaking point for British, but Subhash asking for support of Japanese was very bad decision, if Japanese would have won, then we would be Japanese colonie instead . And they don’t even acted on paper to maintain human rights in colonies, like British dose. They even house arrested Mohan Singh the real founder of INA ,when he asked for full command,Bose was nothing but a puppet in their hand to inslave india.

@@sateesh7057 Yeah I got your put. That is why I said what I said. The whole concept of father of nation is wrong when we talk about India because as we know our civilisation is oldest. Bharat mata has seen 10s and 1000s of bravehearts. And by making one person father we undermine rest of the heroes be it male or female who fought for independence. That starts since Islamic invasion and those 300yrs brave sons of Bharat fought to keep the invaders out of Sindh. 1000yrs under such harsh conditions Bharat mata kept on giving us brave-hearts for whom we were able to survive.

Debate on this topic should be arranged across the nation. Then only, the truth will come out. The opportunist middlemen of Indian politics should be removed to the footnote of our history book. She spoke highly of their struggle and experiences, things that were never mentioned in our history books. It is very important for us to know about the facts about our people who helped build our country, so we know how much we must all fight in our own way, to protect it. God Bless India. "Hallmark of a mature democracy" , now that is what I call as spirited journalism..Hats off to Miss Palki Sharma who raised such questions that have made us inquisitive since years..That's very true to accept history as it is without tweaking and accepting the fact that our national leaders were politicians who often sabotaged each other to build their political careers and lead their own way . So there's nothing wrong or right what works out ultimately is the right idea and what doesn't work out is rejected. .

After listening to this, the point is clear. Mr Gandhi was never a Mahatma but just an another politician and on the other hand boss was true patriot and he never wished anything other than true freedom. Hats off to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It's only now this generation got the opportunity to know Subhash Chandra Bose, thanks to the internet revolution and present Govt otherwise it would never be possible. Also Bose didn't died in 1945 n it's a fact and his life story is what gives us inspiration not some of so called Mahatma's.

I am glad that you mentioned the Naval Mutiny. If we followed Gandhi, India still would remain British colony. No nation can be created and preserved on the principle of AHINSA alone. As a nation we must be capable of defend our nation. I think for a large country like India, a military training should be a part of our upbringing. One more point and that is to sadly say that hardly any Indian and for that matter anybody in Mumbai knows where this Naval Mutiny memorial is located in Colaba, Mumbai.🙏

This history gives a clear lesson learn to us that a wrong and selfish decisions of the leader leaves the generations in miserable conditions for decades, I strongly believe throughout my life that the right way to remember Gandhi as a selfish politician rather than a freedom fighter, after WW2 Britishers lost huge amount of wealth and realised that to control the colonies are next to impossible therefore they started to leave the colonies, but during their leave they ensured the cultivation the roots of poverty and troubles for the next generation and the people like Gandhi and Nehru helped them.

We got independence due to the INA movement, red fort proceedings of INA members and sepoy mutiny 1946, these things aren't taught to us, british were so terrified that something like 1857 might happen again they left early in 1947 when it was 1948 that was decided.

Indian Soldiers in both WW1 & WW2 were a very potent war-machine. The problem was that they were fighting someone they didn't know, for the British who didn't value them. They never got credits for their sacrifices, all of the credits were deliberately stolen by the British and its Allies. India always deserved a permanent seat in the UNSC for the contribution and sacrifices our people made in the wars which had nothing to do with us.
