Dear Palki Sharma, I am writing to express my heartfelt admiration for your recent commentary on the seriousness of climate change and the inadequate response from global leaders, particularly during COP29. Your words resonated deeply with me, and I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge your exceptional journalism. Your ability to convey the urgency and gravity of the climate crisis is truly commendable. You have a gift for breaking down complex issues into accessible and engaging narratives, making it easier for audiences to understand the stakes. Your passion and conviction are evident in every word, and it's inspiring to see a journalist of your caliber using their platform to raise awareness about this critical issue. I was particularly struck by your critique of the lack of meaningful action from world leaders and the COP29 conference. Your analysis highlighted the stark contrast between the rhetoric and the reality, and the need for more concrete commitments and tangible progress. Your commentary served as a much-needed wake-up call, urging us to demand more from our leaders and to hold them accountable for their actions. Please know that your work is making a difference. Your reporting has the power to educate, inspire, and mobilize people to take action. I am grateful for your dedication to covering this critical issue and for using your platform to amplify the voices of those most affected by climate change. Once again, thank you for your outstanding journalism and for being a vocal advocate for climate action. I look forward to continuing to follow your reporting and to seeing the impact it will have in the years to come

Urban living, often associated with high costs, can be reconsidered for a more sustainable approach. A shift in lifestyle and attitude is key-it doesn’t require external financial aid. Keeping the environment and surroundings clean should be a matter of self-responsibility, not dependent on external assistance or funding. Why seek aid for what can be managed independently?

Rampant use of plastics below 40 micron, poor industrial and domestic waste management, urbanisation depleting groundwater resources, industrialisation at the cost of forest cover, agricultural malparctices like stubble burning and heavy use of pesticides, uncontrolled vehicular emissions, etc need to be cracked down upon swiftly and strictly in all countries. We as a country contribute only 4% of the total pollution to the world why don't you question the western countries who not only refuse to share technology for renewal energy but also squeeze all the fossil fuel supply. We have more reduced fossil fuel dependency by 42% with clean sources of energy but to meet our population demands and global supply chain demands we will continue with the current state. India will see India's interests and in terms of environment we don't require lectures from these Western nations as we preserve 70% of our forest area one of the largest in the world. If the high from your creativity has come down, understand that climate change is not from the last 5 years. it goes back to more than 100 years ago at the start of industrialization which involved mostly the western nations. London's pea soup smog was not in the 21st century. Please share with us how much time did britain take to tackle that and several such examples that were a direct result of your countries industrializing. The finger pointing is apt. The developed countries are acting high and lofty now that their infra is setup and charging carbon tax for good manufactured in developing countries but no carbon tax if they are manufactured locally. Also pressurizing developing world to cut carbon footprint while holding motor racing events regularly is rather rich dont you think. Then there is the pressure to "buy" "green energy technology" from the west to meet climate goals. So maybe stop with the hypocrisy and look at your own backyard. India has a solar plant that is 5x the size of Paris. This is just one of many examples.
