The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Atlanta Hawks in overtime yesterday after Kyrie Irving committed a late foul, allowing the game-winning free throws. The Mavs are now a full game out of the Play-In Tournament with less than a week to play. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes discuss whether they have officially given up on the Mavs.

They did show up for the playoffs usually though and make it interesting. i thought brooklyn is a cheater city to even get all those players. They didn't work for any of them. They didnt' draft any of them. They didn't even trade for them. they just signed Durant, Harden and Irving. That is cheating. and it's against LEAGUE SALARY CAP RULEs. Learn to work you lazy bums in ny. Learn to draft players and build a team the right way. Atleast Dallas Drafted Doncic, Hardy and Green and Irving fits perfect with that. Mavs are just 1 PF away and a vet Center. They right now remind me of the 2012 Warriors before Kerr got Draymond Green in the Draft and played him. Mavs could trade Hardaway for a Veteran Center.

They were 28-28 the day they made that trade and everyone was healthy for the stretch run in the West. So it wasn't like they were a 60 win team that was a clear and obvious favorite down the stretch run when the schedule would get real for them either way playing Lakers 3 times, Hawks Twice, Sixers 2 times, Bucks 2 times, Knicks 2 times, Warriors 3 times, And many more who were all getting healthy for the stretch run. Everyone knows it gets harder for the final 20 games out west. Even had they kept Dinwiddie and Finney Smith they still would've finished 10 and 20. Nets weren't going to do anything either cause Simmons never plays and Durant is always injured now. Irving was the only one there playing.

What’s happened to the mavs is such a unique case because Kyrie has always been considered a franchise killer for his OFF-COURT antics, not his play. He’s been quiet and mostly just kyrie on the court since joining the mavs. It’s a combination of the defense they gave up to get him and Jason Kidd being an entirely incompetent coach. As a bucks fan i know what that man does to superstars. Obviously Luka and Kyrie aren’t totally off the hook. Players with their star power should be able to win enough to make the play-in despite coaching, but sheesh DFS’s impact is sorely missed and Kidd is in over his head.

Wildes was 100% right at the end. the Mavs traded away defense for Kyrie, and they already weren't great on defense. and Kyrie and Luka aren't a good fit together. so blaming Kyrie for the team losing is just silly when he's dropping 40+ and they still lose. the blame is clearly on Mark Cuban and the Mavs GM for their poor roster construction around Luka.

Doncic, Brunson and KP were great defenders. Green is a good defender but is more of a pg not a SF like they try to use him. They have no rim protection now without KP so it hurts the entire defense. They were giving up 117 with Smith and dinwiddie. Stop trying to act liek it was a bad trade. you just want Irving back on the Nets so you can run it back vs the Cetlics who STOMPED DURANT AND YOU in 4 quick games. They should traded everyone anyway after that. Simmons never played, Harden left after a week, Durant never plays cause he's soft. And Irving wasn't allowed to play cause of demoncrat dictators. @@mani-xc9rs there is literally no objective way to blame Kyrie. They r 30-31 as steam without him which is still not a playoff team. If u give them that same record over 18 games they would be 9-9 which would be 39-40 which would still have them as the 10 seed. Which means they r still not a playoff team without him. All this “they were the 4 seed before he got there” ya because the difference between the 4 seed and the 11 seed was literally 2 games when he got there. They were 3 games above 500 and still not a good team. Luka and Kyrie but mainly Luka have been in and out of the lineup for a month and y’all wonder y this team is struggling and y Kyrie is struggling to develop chemistry with them. How do u develop chemistry with a guy who isn’t playing. They r 4-11 with Kyrie and Luka but 3-1 with just Kyrie. What does that tell u about who the problem is and y they rnt working together? One guys is doing just fine when the other guy isn’t on the court and Luka lost both games that Kyrie didn’t play so y is Kyrie able to win without Luka but Luka can’t win with or without him? If u can’t see y Luka and his style of play is the problem u never will. They r 7-12 with Kyrie since the trade and 1-4 in the 5 games he hasn’t played since the trade. Who did they beat with Brunson? No one. The only playoff team to ever tank in the first round then the only team to tank in the second round. Be real. Suns tanked in that second round and Jazz didn't want to be in the playoffs so they tanked in the first round. Mavs were not good. They just had an easy schedule to end the season last year. Mavs were only good when They started a Season With KP. they traded KP for nothing. Teams they didn't play at the end of the season last year after that KP trade in 28 games they went only 18-10 which isn't world beaters and they played no one.

how many do you think he would've won in Brooklyn to finish out the season with an injured Durant and a Simmons who never plays? I think they still go 10-20 to finish. It was good he moved on from that awful franchise that can't get anything right.

I dont blame luka. I blame mark for apparently grabbing kyrie just so the lakers wouldn’t. And kyrie for asking for a trade instead of just walking staright to the lakers if that is where he legitimately wanted to go. Luka has nothing to do with that abrupt trade

For all the noise Kyrie makes whenever he joins a team, one thing cannot and should not be ignored is the fact that Luka doesn’t play well with another super star. He did that with KP and now Kyrie. He doesn’t seem to like when someone else runs the show. He has started pouting ever since Kyrie got there and has been playing well. The second thing people ignore is the fact that Mavs gave up a lot of role players and that’s hurt them.
He sees meat everywhere 😄🥩
