These games really takes me back to a time before chess computers when chess was still a mysterious human endeavor. I appreciate your inclusion of quotes from other contemporary players without computer analysis.

So true. Reading old books with analysis on also kills all the fun. Once I found Alekhine avoided a +3 variation - finding other side initiative too strong.

I am surprised by the quote “ Petrosian was not on his element during his famous match against Fischer”.He was still so strong he played strong chess game’s but Bobby outplayed him. May be the reason why everyone playing against Fischer became nervous had been explained by Tal: “Fischer used to play with such an energy that his opponents feel that energy flowing over the chess board and into their bodies.” You can find this explanation on KZbin when in 1980s in the last minutes of a video he explained in Russian to his audiences

This Fischer guy got lucky in the first game, was crushed in the second game, was outplayed and escaped with a draw in the third, was given an easy draw with black in the fourth, and again escaped with a draw after being outplayed in the fifth game. I predict a crushing victory by Petrosian in this match.

I believe Petrosian is one of the most underrated players in the eyes of public. Many people see his results and proclaim him "The Boring Guy Who Could Only Draw," but Petrosian was a brilliant player. And despite the result, there is one thing I love about his play that I'd like to point out in this game. I love how his position looks all passive, pieces maneuver from 8th rank to 8th rank and suddenly it all unravels like a wonderful magic trick.

Doubled central pawns covered by the bishops! Beautiful demonstration by Petrosian.

So white had played 2 inaccuracies with qb3 and bh2 but after rxe8 he has a big positional advantage to my eyes 9:18

Fischer seemed lost in this game...I've seen Magnus also "space out" for a move or two in some of his games. Qb3? just looks odd to me and I am definitely no Bobby Fischer. OR, maybe Petrosian's 4th game psychological strategy did work! At least for 2 games :)

Russians say 'outplayed' . I would just say he played a little below his standard. Even then, I saw no winning line for Petrosian.
