This set is such a classic. The designer really understood piece ergonomics well. The bulbous-headed bishops are my favorite piece in this set. The pawns are nice too. And ooh, that knight! 👌

I have this set. although it is not historically accurate to the fischer spassky set of 1972, it is still a pretty nice set. The knights in this set are larger with larger bases, the kings are cut wrong at the "hat". it shows a sharp angle going towards the finiel. The original set has it smoothed out with no sharp angle as this king shows. It would be so easy for RCM to produce this accurately and without any additional expense. Why they chose to do this to an otherwise nice set is beyond me. I also have this same set in bud rosewood. It was purchased as a first quality set, not 2nd or imperfect. I received what would be considered a poor imperfect. The knights manes don't match up, they are not cut straight, one ear is lower than the other, the chins are cut differently on each knight, and the same issue with the kings as already mentioned above. When a customer pays for a first quality set, they should not receive what would be considered a poor representation of imperfect. I wouldn't even call the set I received a 2nd. It is worse than that. I have received some great chess sets from RCM in the past. This is clearly not one I could give 5 stars. 2-2.5 at best. I have grown tired of being a guinea pig for RCM. If customer pays for a first quality set, that's what they should receive. I do receive a first quality set from them about 70 percent of the time. It's just a role of the dice what you are going to receive in the way of quality.

I have this excellent pieces too, but my king is heavier: 64 grams, Queen 62, Rock 37, Knight 50, Bishop 36 and Pawn 17 grams.

I didn't buy one of these yet because the various manufacturers offer about a dozen choices and they all look good. Can you help me sell my vintage Heuer Looping chess timer? I will never use it...

Nice set. The only thing that was always concerning me is the deep crenelation on the rooks that looked fragile. Otherwise the set is nearly perfect.

Thanks for the comment! Yes the cuts are pretty deep, but in the other hand that makes them very recognisable, so far nothing is broken 😁

The Knight needs to improve, it looks kinda flattened. Queen also needs to stand out, but they've gone modest on her.
