My daughter sent me this song A few months ago. I've been separated from their mother for a few years but we have remained close. She knows I gambled everything and Lost. Especially with my family and her mother.. she has the Steady Hand even though I always didn't. She knows I'd bet on her every time and always win

My interpretation of the song is the Father used to be a pool shark but because of the drinking cant play well enough to win the bets je has made while he is drunk. He has to call his son in the play the game and cover his bet. Son has been playing since he was old enough to hold a stick because that's what his dad wanted. The kid resents having to continually bail his dad out because its his dad. Son would rather be doing other things than what his father wanted. Unfortunately, the metaphorical side is so many fathers oush their sons/daughters into sports to relive their glory days and never pay attention to what their children want so they're always stuck doing what their parents want.😢😢😢

Zach opened me to other country artists, but none really hit like Zach does. When i listen to his stuff i get the same feeling as i do when i listen to willie and Cash. Zach has this truly unique sound. It really is like when Grunge replace hair bands. I feel Zach is that same change on country sound. Its just awesome!

This song relates most to me the most out of all of Zach Bryan’s songs. I have a good relationship with my dad and he bets on me even if we’ve had our differences. He’s an alcoholic and judges the worst of me and sometimes I wish we had more similarities but alcohol gets in the way. Love him more than anything, but this song explains my relationship to a tea.

The son just wanted to be a normal son. He wanted his dad to just take him fishing or to let him play football. But his dad (because his his gambling and drinking) molded him in to what he is. And how that’s what he knows. So he’ll win, because that’s what he does. The son now takes care of his father because he never just got to be a kid.
