I'm the same now Gary. Not eaten out in nearly 2 years. I use to eat out 5 times a week pre pandemic. I gave up work 2 years ago and have not worked since. I so want old normal to return.

@@garydobbs2085 Gary sorry to hear about your mate. I pray he is ok. I know it seems hard to believe but I think they are de-populating. It's all to do with the climate. I take Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Zinc everyday and still wear a Mask. Something strange is going on. Numerous relations of mine have suffered since having these vaccines. My cousin nearly died, she was hospitalised with blood clots on the lung. Best wishes Stay safe 👍🏻😁

Rock on! Great looking fish & chips. Best fish & chips I've ever had was at a fish and chip cafe in London about 30 years ago near the Church Commissioners, it probably won't be there now. I was going for a job which I didn't get, but the quality of the fish and chips have stuck in my mind which is some testament.

What a great start to a Saturday morning ( latest DJ Vid) even tho its raining cats an dogs here too at 8am in Issan Thailand. Wow, thats the first time ive ever heard of 'Rock', but to be fair the Boy said it. !! off the charts !! It looked senstional and wonderful to see only salt n vinegar on it... i know these days 'chippys' serve up in boxes but am old school and nothing better than wrapped in yesterdays newspaper. The editing skills of DJ is just superb its as if your riding pillion along each journey, and stopping off in a housing estate to gain shelter was just a touch of real genious and applomb. loved it. First thing I do when coming back to the UK is to hit a good Fish & Chip shop . Rock salmon used to be called dog fish they changed the name to Rock Salmon as nobody wants to eat dog do they ,,,,,,,,, well except the Vietnamese. You made my mouth water as usual Darren . Rock salmon used to be a real "Londoner at the seaside" thing, its dogfish which is a small type of shark, it's not as popular up north but its a nice change from cod or haddock. If you can get it you should try "Ginny wings" (skate), very nice as well. Saveloy's aren't very big up north either.

Haha where I grew up we just called it “rock” or dogfish, maybe in touristy areas or places where that didnt sound as appetising “rock salmon” was used. one of my favourites as a kid as it was dirt cheap, spotted dogfish seemed to be stupidly abundant around that part of the channel, remember seeing a pretty upset man fishing at the pier with over a dozen of the things wriggling and curling up on the floor. they arnt bad eating, but not quite as good as cod. It was a lot of food at a cheap price though. Used to love saveloys as a kid, dont like them much now though.

DJ dazzler no Rock for me yuk 😂my brother in law had his own fishing boat, so we had everything, cod, haddock, plaice, skate, scallops, prawns, lobster, monkfish but never Rock I think they used to throw back in.

Hello DJ, Suggestion of a ride out to the Blackheath Tea Hut, next time weather & time allows. It's just by where you rode in this vid. I have a little video on the history of it, if you have time to view. They have just rebuilt/replaced it after a serious accident. The tea hut is synonymous with bike meets etc. Hope it can interest you. I'm planning a vid for the Return of their famous Animal Burger. 🤯 You need to see it with your own eyes. Rock salmon! up here in Yorkshire it's called dogfish it's a kind of miniature shark, it's not to bad would much prefer a nice bit of haddock, they used to serve it a lot in London as a cheaper alternative to cod, but then the price went up and people stopped eating it, thing is with rock you always got a bigger fish than cod for the same price

Hi up in Scotland it used to be popular but I believe it’s been overfished and now rare . Can still sometimes get rock turbot , which as you can guess , is nothing likevturbot as well but wolf fish , an ugly brute ,large eel type with scary head and teeth .

We love Rock and chips but I have to say we dont get anything like that size here where we live in kent thats for sure and we have tried several fish and chip shops during covid !!! So thats either a really good fish shop or he made it especially large as you told him it was for youtube!!! LOL My Mum introduced us to Rock as kids as like you said one easy bone down the middle she also introduced us to what is now another fave from the Chippie Cod Roe and chips!

Darren, That’s Huss, or dog fish, as it’s otherwise known! A member of the shark family. Used to catch and dump these in my lobster creels when I was younger. It was re-branded as Rock so as to be more appealing! Glad you liked it though!

Rock is quite hard to find. We used to do it in the chippy I worked at years ago near Portsmouth, and once introduced to it I soon acquired the taste for it too! Found it in one place up here more or less East Midlands, but not many places.
