🚿 Fish shower = drip acclimation!! Many people underestimate the importance of safely acclimating a fish into its new tank If not done properly, the fish can become shocked and stressed which will make them more susceptible to diseases since a stressed fish is immunocompromised I like drip acclimating because it allows the temperature, pH, ammonia, and other parameters of the bag water to slowly become the same as the tank water over a 45 min - 1 hour timespan. Although drip acclimation is unnecessary for “hardy fish” like guppies, I still do this to ensure everyone makes a safe transition from the bag to the tank! Hey, while drip acclimating is generally recommended when just buying from an LFS, it’s not good to drip acclimate from fish who went on long shipments. Ammonia builds up in the bag during shipping and when the bag is opened it reacts to oxygen causing it to be toxic. It’s best to just temp acclimate and do a quick acclimation

Also salt baths are also used for some cases of desease. There are 2 types of salt EPSOM salt, and freshwater salt (purified seasalt like API's).

I was doing this with my dwarf red shrimp a couple days ago until one got svicidal and JUMPED out of the bag onto my desk. So yeah lesson learned, shrimp can pop out of containers like popcorn. All 6 of them are doing fabulous now, I have them in one of those 1.3 gallon “betta” tanks that are too small for any actual fish, along with a piece of driftwood that forms a small natural cave and some live plants (corkscrew val and rotala indica)

Girl i watched all of your vedios and i love it. And the fish you've treat so specially here in the Philippines its just like magicly appears into small canals when it rains again and again for one week like here in the Philippines there are thousands of them fishes and some of the people here just maybe dont care about them well me i care for them fishes once when i was a child i take care of thousands of them and i dont actually afford big tanks for them i just put them like on a bucket and feed them bread and i dont put axpensive plants and oxygen on there plastic bucket and i dont know this fishes are rare to you're country and i love how you take good care of you're fishes couldn't agree more💖

This is so important! I see so many people just getting a dish and dumping the whole thing in their existing tank and I scream every time. Pet store fish usually carry disease and the water quality is horrible, why would you shock them by dumping them in? That is why most fish die right off the bat, either by immature aquarium set up or by shock. For example, it would be like having a hot shower and then someone throwing you right outside in the freezing old winter with no clothes. You would most likely die, but you may survive if you are lucky. But what do we fish experts know? People would rather just complain when their fish die and do nothing about it. That is why pet stores don't educate you properly, because they are there to make a sale and if you needed all this experience and product, and have to wait 3-6 months for a fish tank to cycle, they wouldn't make a sale. Most pet stores want your fish to die so you'll come back and spend more money. Our local pet store was here for over 40 years and I was told that by the owner.

I have just experienced this myself with my Science project some months ago. So me and my team decides to go on a science project about microorganisms in Tilapia aquaculture. My father ( who was a Bsc in Aquaculture btw ) transferred some of the tank water into the fish water but unfortunately since it was tap water (and my team forgot to chill the water first); all of them suffered not only shock but also chlorine poisoning. Fortunately we bought 200 fishes and “satisfactory” amount of them lived throughout the project.

Freshwater fish are far more susceptible to shock from drip acclimation than matching the temps and adding to the tank. As soon as you open the bag any ammonia in the water becomes far more deadly when exposed to the fresh oxygen. Drip acclimation is only recommended when salinity is involved.

Well I gave my pond goldfish Epsom salts baths last year because he had big welts on his sides and I read online that it helps to heal them. I can confirm this works and Herman Munster is still healthy and happy.
