I am from mass blitzing stripers have been around constantly but they are really finicky about what they will eat any lure suggestions to catch them I have tried too water bucktails and export jigs I have had luck using the epoxy jigs but not consistently

As always a great video I have seen you tie on your many hooks, hard and soft baits which knot are you using on the flutter spoon to your leader in this video can't figure it out.
@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ronald, I was just using a barrel swivel to connect to my braid to prevent line twists. So I tied a Palomar Knot with the braid to the swivel and then just a single uni knot with the leader to the barrel.
@Slirpyfilms2 жыл бұрын
Great video, just picked up one of your bucktails for myself. What size would you recommend for surf/shore fishing? I got a 1/2oz.
@rrlogosable2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the conditions you are fishing and the rod set up you are using. Back bays you want to go lighter unless you have strong rips that aren’t letting it get close to the bottom. Heavy surf you may want 2oz. Back bays I say 1/2oz to 1oz. Jetties 3/4 to 2oz depending on conditions. Rich may do it a bit different, that’s just my take. You want to get close to the bottom but not dragging. Bucktailing from the surf take a bit of finesse.
@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yeah just like Tony mentioned below. If you plan on fishing shallow water or fishing higher in the water column then a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce jig is best. If you plan to fish heavy surf, or deep water in a kayak or boat where there is also more current. You are then going to want bucktails 1 to 3ounce at least. In the beginning of this video when I was on the boat. I was using a 3ounce bucktail to be in the strike zone and a 2 ounce or 1 ounce can make a big difference between catching fish or not in deep water with strong current. Hope this helps. Tight Lines!

@@FishAholicTV and Tony, thanks! I’m going to Ocean City New Jersey for a vacation and want to try fishing the bays in my kayak. I’ll try the buck tail!

Nice, I’m told those flutter spoons have a weird tendency when the fish turns and leans on the side of the spoon, the hook can pop off.
@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s probably what happened
@xgenux2 жыл бұрын
Hey rich you really need to modify the flutter spoon by adding a swivel between the hook a d spoon or u will drop ALOT of fish. They get leverage and pop free especially close to boat. U will get a lot more in once u do that little modification. Look up Mike Smedleys video on KZbin about it. He's the guy who started the craze ir flutterspoons for bass in raritan bay.
@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
Cool thanks for the tip! I use to have some largemouth bass do that with crank baits and small spoons

Hey Rich, did you by any chance run into key West waterman Aaron Young? A fellow KZbinr who is like the name says basically from key West but puts out videos pretty much like the same as you do, but he for the most part, spearfishes. Don't know why I'm asking you now because I just started the video, I'll probably have something else to say and if I don't, you know, keep making those videos, I appreciate it. God bless. I know I say the same to you a lot, but I mean it!
