Sit back and enjoy some non stop drum action on artificals. Fishbites totally count as artificals... WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS LOTS OF SARCASM. Well our friend wanted another fish fry and the conditions were perfect. Fishbites worked great for this type of fishing, in fact, the action was so fast it was hard for us to keep our lines in the water. We were able to catch multiple fish before having to rebait the Fishbites which was a huge time saver and kept us on the fish. We caught our limits, our buddies next to us caught their limits once we told them to start using Fishbites.

Yeah we started using fishbites over the Fall/Winter and were catching Black Drum and Redfish on them. It definitely made me a believer. Hopefully you get some free time and the Black Drum are still biting at the bridge.

so what kind of drop rigs are you tying? And how do you get the took line so long?
@MattsSaltwaterFishing
@MattsSaltwaterFishing 5 жыл бұрын
The rig is a double dropper loop rig. When tying the dropper loop, just adjust the loop to the desired length before cinching down the knot.

@MattsSaltwaterFishing
@MattsSaltwaterFishing 5 жыл бұрын
@@nicolasgarza4823 we were using 4/0 Eagle Claw Circle. You could use 3/0 as well and 2/0 is a little small but it shouldn't be a problem for slot drum like this. Generally you match the hook size to the size of bait and species you are targeting.

The equipment is very much overkill but used for a few reasons. 1) Snags, there are snags along the drop off. In previous videos you can see people getting stuck on these snags while fighting a fish. This gear allowed us to horse the fish to the surface and avoid the snags. 2) Distance, this gear allowed us to easily reach the spots where the fish were more heavily concentrated. We were probably catching 2 to 1 if not 3 to 1 compared to others using lighter tackle that couldn't throw as far. 3) Heavy Current, the bite was triggered by strong current flow. The oversized gear allowed us to easily throw heavier weights that kept our lines in the ideal spot without drifting. Others using lighter gear would have their lines drift and get tangled up with other people's lines.
