TIP: If you don't get bites after trying all of the above techniques then move to a different area and try again. keep doing this until you catch fish, and you will I guarantee it. Like Thresher said if there are no fish then nothing will work.

Im glad your videos popped up in my recommended list. I am a freshwater guy but as of last year started going down south to fish salt and I was absolutely clueless on what to do. Other tourist would stop and ask me for advice too and I had to tell them that I didnt know. I caught some fish by using bass fishing techniques but these videos will be a big help now.

Good to have 'ya. Heck some freshwater and saltwater soft plastics are exactly the same.
@wilsocn7 жыл бұрын
I noticed that when I was trying to pick soft plastics in the baitshop so I just went with what looked familiar to me except I got them in a larger size lol. It worked great but I have yet to catch a flounder and that it was I have been targeting each time I go out. I have had lots eat half of my Gulp baits and follow them to the top but I simply can't get one on the hook!
@LDQBBQ7 жыл бұрын
Something I'd like to add is to always stay engaged while you are retrieving your lure. You have to think a fish is looking at it all the time. If you're not doing this, bites become more a product of luck, and then it becomes harder to duplicate what you just did to get that bite because you weren't paying attention in the first place.

very helpful tips im going to try these techniques soon when it gets alittle cooler here on the southeast coast of nc. I usually fish for basically anything but mostly flounder, trout, drum and pompano. I didn't have much luch at all this summer with soft plastics I mainly fish shrimp, cutbait, minnows, and sandfleas but want to try to get soft plastics to work because I got a ton of them for saltwater but never can get them to work. just wanting to save moneys on buying bait all the time lol....cool video ill try the tips I watch ur videos all thee time

Great video. Thanks for putting this together. One thing you might consider as a follow-up for newbies... you mentioned jig heads, but didn't show any examples. You might consider a rigging example as a follow-up. Thanks again.

@mikemcdonald93377 жыл бұрын
Great tips. But you can work plastics in weeds. Just hook it weedless. Works well in off colored water or overcast days. Reds a lot of times will root through the grass with heads down chasing up bait. A nice soft plastic shrimp or paddle tail can fool a nice red or trout following.

Soft plastic in saltwater can be a little discouraging at times, there is always so much bait around for fish so you really need something to get their attention short of popping them on the nose with your bait. I enjoy fishing saltwater and I've always enjoyed using soft plastic but I kinda feel to some degree unless sight fishing soft plastic is at a disadvantage. I've been on piers before where folks use live shrimp and catch nothing those days I rarely get as much as a quick pass, other days I do pretty well I just feel their is always so much bait around in saltwater to really get a fishes attention on something which is not as lively or has any scent and typically if I do it's a freaking hard head catfish... From my personal experience I tend to do better with soft plastic turning high tides along flats where the high tide floods part of the beach which is normally exposed rest of the day redfish seem to love flooded flats.

ThresherFishing Mine were actually gifted to me by a stranger I met fishing. It was a rainy day out on the flats of the Jetty I fish. After skunking, I was walking down a boardwalk back to my car when a man wearing a dark grey rain Pancho stopped me. He asked for my help regarding a matter he could not fully explained. I complied only because we were both headed in the same direction and figured it would be awkward to walk back with him after I ignored his pleads for help. When we made it back to the parking lot he approached a white windowless van and opened the right back door. He beckoned me to step closer. Inside I saw 4 pairs of bolt cutters, the first blue, the second red, the third green, and the last yellow. Gesturing to the four cutters he told me to chose one pair carefully, for there would be consequences to my choice. Of those 4 colors, blue would be my favorite, and that is the one I picked. The man looked at me and asked if I was sure that was the pair I wanted because that particular pair of cutters habitually caused injuries to the user. Thanking him, I retracted my choice and changed it to the red cutters. He nodded his head and gently stroked a gotee I had failed to notice earlier. Are you sure he asked genuinely, red is the color of blood and fishermen being a superstitious lot wouldn't want the color of equipment to ruin a good fishing day. Although I am not superstitious I decided it was best to pick a new color, so I chose green. The man said I had chosen wrong and that I should try again. This time I chose the yellow pair and he looked at me with a wide smile and said congrats you are the new owner of a new pair of yellow bolt cutters.
