@@dfrazier51 thanks buddy, i think of gramps more as a team mate and we’re both on the side of the everyday cpap user. I don’t mind if he shares some of my ideas and i’m sure i’ve used some of his wisdom in the past 🤙🍻

😂 Okay....to be fair, I only got it about 3 months ago...maybe a month now. 😄 Someone told me the day I recorded it that "you should check out Nicks video on how to quiet it down with a PAP filter". 😳 The show must go on though! When I know that I have a review of a product/mask, I don't watch any video on the subject from other content creators. Don't want those opinions to get into my head. But yes....I certainly "reinvented the wheel" on this one!

You are a good man Lefty. You and Nicko are my CPAP hero’s 😅and I need you both to keep me going. Plus, it’s great to learn from a fellow Zag. I graduated from there in 1976 and still live in the Spokane area.

Outstanding! I really want to go back and check out the changes made to the campus. Just this last weekend Gonzaga was playing UOP in Stockton and I took my family and friends family. Got to catch up with Coach Machtolf who was an assistant when I played there. Great campus and faculty.

I used AS 10 filter material for a few months, but changed to 2 layers of dryer sheet which allows more air to exit, but reduces the blast well enough.

My BiPAP IPAP pressure is set at 22.6. The Solo does not clamp down tight enough to prevent severe leaks at this pressure. In addition, the air from the exhalation holes is so strong and loud that it makes it almost impossible to sleep.

I'm also at a high pressure and looking for a nasal or nasal pillow mask. Did you find one that works for you yet? Thanks

I am Deaf and I just bought it. Can’t wait to try it. If it wasn’t for the noise, would it be a favourite?

I replaced the sprayer on my Mask Bright bottle. It has paid off, quick as a wink when spraying my mask and other parts. I bought the gun kind rather then the pump.

Lol, i came up with the exact same solution. I tied it on there with a needle and thread. Works great. Much quieter. I wore my o2 sat ring and had no saturation drops beyond stuff correlated with apneas. If anything my o2 sat is better overall because this mask seals much better and my ahi is lower

I have the Evora full face and it is quiet as anything. I know if something is not hooked up right because I will hear air flow, but so far absolutely quiet.

I used a Fisher & Paykel Simplus full face mask for the first seven years if my CPAP use. It fit my face very well and was not prone to air leaks despite the fact that I am a side sleeper. My one major complaint about it was the little perforated diffuser ports. They were loud and frequently would end up blowing back in my face when a blanket or pillow got too close to them. I now use a Resmed F20 full face mask that fits well but not quite as well as the F&P. The reason that I’ve stuck with it is very simply that it has a diffuser that is so quiet as to be almost inaudible. Regarding the suitability of a CPAP intake HEPA filter for not covering the Solo diffuser ports (NO, NEVER DO THIS, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT) it may be overkill and may or may not restrict flow much. The end goal is to simply divert the very directional airflow through the diffuser holes, and a think piece of loose wool felt or other such thin material situation where the fibers are reasonably random should work. Just anything to break up the linear flow out of each port into multiple truly diffuse air streams should work.

Non-woven range hood filter. I've used it for years on my Simplus.

I really like the F&P simplus it fit me really well but the problem with it is the small exhalation holes that capture water droplets and make a tonne of noise. Even without that build up of water its still loud on exiting air. They also seemed to make the new mask replacements not fit together well resulting in leaks and yet more noise. The Vitera has less of that problem as the holes are bigger but is still quite loud compared to other masks. F&P have a long history at this point of not caring about the loudness of air flow with their masks and I have raised concerns with them as I really would like this style of mask optimised a bit for volume. F&P just seem to produce poor sounding masks and they don't seem worried about customer feedback that the current ones are louder than they need to be due to bad design decisions.

The headgear is fantastic. I cannot get through the night without the cushion leaking, tho. I’ll wake up, and spend 20 or so minutes trying to fix it

Yeah I tried the brevity, those nasal pillows killed my nose and leaked like crazy. I had much better successes with the resporonics comfort gel pillows

Can the Evora nasal cushion snap into this new type of mask?

Used the Resmed P10 prior. I've been using the Brevida pillow nasal mask for over a year. My air leaks were minimal to none..until this past Feb. The air leaks increased significantly then and have remained higher than before Feb. Nothing has changed. I believe Resmed changed the algorithm in an update. The Solo mask head gear doesn't look adjustable. I do have problems with the Brevida headgear. The strap that goes around the back of my head will ride up to the top of my head causing my mask to loosen a little. I've read other CPAPers have that same issue. The Solo headgear straps look large and smooth, which might not stay in place either. What is your experience with that?
@peppers84894 ай бұрын
The noise doesn't bother me. My problem with the Solo is that, no matter what size pillows I use, it makes my nose hurt and it is painful to take off because it seems to stick to my skin. I've tried washing the mask. I've tried using lanolin. Nothing seems to help. Guess I will keep using the Brevida.

I have a pointy nose and unless I had the straps loose the massive hard shell holding the cushion pressed into it causing long term pain. But then the mask leaked. Fail-fail.

Completely agree. Couldn’t even use it for a full night.

I have found the pillow solo mask to be quieter than the nasal version, however as much as I like this mask and the brevida I always wake up with a sore septum in the morning. Does anyone have any helpful advice?

hrmm i wonder if you could simply desolder the "acoustic sensor" aka microphone from the board......of course with the price of an as11 i don't want to be the guinea pig LOL
@PaulRKeeble8 ай бұрын
You could cut off the microphone diaphragm or at least pierce it which would destroy the microphones ability to listen while leaving it electrically identical so impossible to detect from the software other than it produces a lot of noise and no useful signal.
@silvernoob16038 ай бұрын
@@PaulRKeeble true, then put a dab of hot glue on it to be sure haha
@PaulRKeeble8 ай бұрын
@@silvernoob1603 The glue will ruin it on its own. Anything that stops the diaphragm from moving that magnet in the coil will ruin the microphone. Hard glue like superglue would probably be better because it wont flex as much to sound but it wont matter much its all a terrible material for transiting sound.

I hate the diffuser on the brevida. It falls off all the time and it hisses when the elbow is in the wrong spot.

I taped the edges of the diffuser to the mask for that very reason when I used the Brevida.

3:53 Those aren't perforated. You won't find these on a new mask. It's actually oxidized (turn black, like a clogged pore) organic matter. Yes, we exhale organic matter.

FYI asbestos wouldn't be an ideal choice for a diffuser. Some types of asbestos have caused silicosis.
