first of sorry about the sync issues on the one video next time will have it more in-sync.
So we have a Fisher CD carousel 24 disc changer, I review repairing the m-error and the laser replacement. And discuss the unit and other Fisher units like the 60 disc changer.

I love this video. I have the DAC 2406, and the DAC 2405, as well as the studio 150. They are great machines. And each one that I have is an original purchase from me in the year that they came out. So basically I've had all three of them for at least 27 years. They are workhorses, and they will well made back then.

I inherited this system from my late sister....it had the error when I got it....so many years I sporadically searched KZbin...it was so simple (thanks to you)...all I had to do, literally was remove 4 damn screws lol....I didn't have to disconnect anything....I'm so happy! :) Ty again!

Hi sir . Thank you so much for the post . You gave me hope and think I'll try lubricating . Carousel works fine . But when cd is at loading point it will not load cd into player . I get an m-error . It is a Fisher 24 player and I'd I have the right remote it says RDAC-2415 . I looked for a reset button and did not see one . But you did give me hope and I enjoyed your vid . Gave you a 'big thumbs up' .

if you're looking for parts for one of these where would you source them? all the shops I can find show these all out of stock. Need the gear for pulling the CDS which is I think the major fail point for these models so not sure buying one to cannibalize would help as that part is at least worn if not shot.

If not able to find one I would probably just get one 3d printed, but I found just keep searching there is some good stock out there just have to find it. But that being said if you have the tooth count and see what you can find that way. I assume your not meaning the motor but the gear itself. Sometimes other models have had the same gear size in them so might be worth a shot.

Hello, the cd motor on my Studio 24 seems to be weak, by any chance you know what motor I can replaced it with? any help will be appreciated , Thank you

Does the motor have a belt attached to it? If so, it might just be the belt. I do not have one I can open to see which motor. If you want to send me pictures of the motor you think it is, I can see if there is a replacement. Any numbers off it would be great [e-mail]

Great Video thanks ! I have the Studio 24 and was getting the M-Error. I opened the unit emptied and removed the carousel and replaced a loose belt on the carousel motor. I cannot get the unit to load a disc now. I have turned the carousel numerous times to different positions and it goes into different modes occasionally like "checking disks" sometimes just sticking so I have to lift a little and move it then it will spin and stop but won't load. It will keep ejecting the disc if I try to load one. I think it's misalignment as you stated. I see there are two ports on top of the carousel (If you look straight down through them) one in the front where the discs load and one in the rear where the discs load into the CD player that shows alignment. Have you noticed which numbers show when properly aligned ? Maybe you have come up with an easier way to align the carousel. Hopefully.... Many thanks, Bob

Robert Vega if I get my hands on another I'll try to go more in depth it is a chore to get it aligned and can be very frustrating but keep at it and eventually it will find its home.

ya the first time I did it was a long process then found the groove to get it aligned so stick with it you will get there good luck its a great unit.

Great video. Could you add detail on how to align the tray to correct M Error? Unit plays CDs fine, tray turns freely, all motors work well. Do I need to loosen top tray screws and raise the tray in order to align the tray? Are there align marks?

yes you will have to loosen to raise it up to move it so far I have found no indicators for alignment so it's trial and error and can be frustrating but only so many times you can turn it before you hit the sweet spot. when you select disk 1 to eject does it got to where it should be?

I have the studio 24 that won't load and just m-errors me. I saw in the comments that you loosen the carousel and turn it a bit at a time ? So.my question is do you start at slot 1 at the door?

I also tried to loadcds manually by removing the triangular door on the top of the carrosel but, the unit does not recognize any discs so I'm assuming that a CD has to pass through the slot to br recognized, ugh ,,, this thing is making me nuts

Well, usually, it's one or two spots off so what I do is back 1 forward 2 you will feel it to but after some practice if someone else has been in there then ya I'll have to keep rotating.

Yes, I try to test it. Sadly, I've had some where I can have top off and no problem and other not depends on the case.

+gaston perez sorry for the late reply but from what I have been told is a memory reset button but I cant remember off if these models have them or not check the left side of the lower board if you see one then thats the button but can't remember 100% at the moment.

Thanks for your video on the fisher cd changer, I have a 60 cd changer fisher that is showing a M-Error. I have No idea what I'm looking at if I take the top off to even see what the issue is. I know the changer isn't stopping to load the cd, it will get to the load point and then pass bye it. Hope you can help or direct me to what kind of repair place to take it to. its pretty annoying I will say that, takes alot of time and adjustment the first one I did I think I did for a few hours cursing and swearing. eventually you find the right spot for it. After the first one you get the hang of doing it more often and becomes second nature. but double check online if there is any manuals that might have tech information on it the service manual. you might get lucky.

I just bought a studio 24 the other day. I am getting the M-ERROR message. I took the top off and noticed the carousel spins but it doesnt pull the cd out of the carousel to the player. Do you know what causes this and how to fix?

Sounds like it is miss aligned and might need to be rotated a bit it could be from belt or gear causing it hard for me to know without seeing it.

Can rotate the carousel a bit then try the eject might be off just a bit if you still get the error message it might have to be rotated the other way.

Thanks for a great video. My tray assembly seems to turn freely until it get's to within an inch of the exit slot, or the reader slot. Then it slows down drastically. Sometimes the disc continues to move until it aligns and the slides into position. but sometimes the tray assembly just gets stuck there and gives a M-Error. Is this a lubrication issue? Can I get to the gears without removing the entire turn table assembly?

the whole tray assembly would have to be removed to get access to gears and belts
