Electric Standby Compressor Belt Loosen the four mounting bolts on the end of the electric motor. Move electric motor (rotate it on the gyrator axis) to obtain a belt tension of 58 to 60 on TK Gauge P/N 204-427. Tighten the electric motor mounting bolts and recheck the belt tension. Readjust the belt tension if necessary. Check the belt tension again after 36 to 48 hours of initial operation of the unit because the belt may stretch slightly during the first hours of use. Also check pulley alignment.

To fix your belt issue: Usually a machine that eats belts, it’s because of pulley misalignment or improper tension. If it’s neither of those, try going to a double pulley setup. 2 belts = 1/2 the strain

Check the belt pulleys for any little sharp edges that could be tearing the belt slowly. 9/10 it’s going to be a tensioner issue or pulley alignment

Belts and pulleys are simple. Do you have the correct belt? Alignment? Bearing condition? Compressor dragging? Belt tension? Something is causing drag, figure that out.

Why it’s eating your belts more than likely is your pulleys are different sizes so the belt wears unevenly than eventually breaks

You may have the wrong belt. Make sure the belt matches the pulleys and the pulleys match each other. Great show @ Rock Hall. As a kid my dad always said "If a storm blows you across the bay you'll end up in Rock Hall. Grew up at what is today Down's Park. Pretty sure that's the old Buster's Boat Yard you dock at. Love your videos. Keep it up.

Belt alignment, belt length, and belt tension lubricant level and type, some had lubricant in the cooling system. Motor grease, type of and size of pulleys ie vbelt or flat,this hodge podge of cooling system items is small but grouped together make the start of a predictive maintenance program and you can start to stop fighting fires so much in the run to failure mode you are in big step big dividends. Love the journey you are sharing with all who watch and sub to this great life channel!

I worked at a frozen food warehouse, and the freezer unit you got on your trailer was on the lorrys and the only way to stop it from over heating is to keep the door closed as it has a built-in temperature sensor and if you keep the door open it thinks there is a problem and go's flat out to compensate. As much as a pain in the ass it might ne just keep the doors closed

When you tighten that belt keep the tension on it with the prybar. Its weird how it works but sometimes the bolt can turn the direction that causes the position to move even just a little bit. If the pullys are shiny take the belt off and give them a scuff with some sandpaper to help it grip. Hope it helps

I've seen these boat docking guys and it's fast! I just like to say that I like your channel because you have a hell of a character. I am north of you in Narragansett Bay and spent my summers on Jamestown. I love your boat! Don't ever knock that old CAT power man. Them things have been in boats since the vikings stopped rowing. I would love to own a saltwater boat one day. Would like to build out a wide beam with twin turbo diesel and those Hamilton jet drives. Something really quick and stable because I am in a wheelchair and would need something sturdy through rough seas

Use a quality belt that is intended for the purpose used for. An automatic belt would probably work but it depends on what is going on in there. Oil can destroy belts but maybe not that quickly. More likely it's something with the pulleys. Either not running straight/out of alignment, or the pulley is bad. Rust, sharp edges, bent, etc can all cause issues. Tension is also a big one. Too tight is bad, too loose is bad. I just lost a $120 belt because a pulley let loose, and caused a lose of tension suddenly. There isn't a lot that can go wrong but you have an issue.

Use a laser to check pulley alingnment and adjust the motor position, also check the pulleys themselves for damage, smooth the surface off with sandpaper

.. check for belt tension. you may have to loosen motor mount bolts and make adjustments. check motor aligment. , check pully.. sharpness.. bearings . make sure you are using correct belt

Belts are 1 of 3 things. Alignment, Tension, Pulley wear. Pulley wear being the most overlooked in my job, but misalignment causes the most belt wear. I wish you were close enough for a service call, it's literally my job to diagnose belt issues.

Trailer Refer! Pulleys might be worn? V-belts require a V shaped pulley inside running surfaces. Not Good V belts with worn out metal U inside surface pulleys. Plus use the correct tension for both pulley sizes and belt length, there is a formal for that.

Tbh some dry ice in an insulated cooler container will last a pretty long time if u ever have issues with that cooling system on the container. Shit u could just use dry ice permanently to keep those crabs nice cool when they're being stored.

Make sure both of the pulleys on your refrigeration unit are matching. They both have to be A pulleys or B pulleys. If you have an A pulley size on the motor and a B size pulley on the compressor the belt rides differently on the 2 different pitches of the mismatched pulleys and you will eat up belts like your customers be eatin them crabs. Look into it and let me know if that was the problem

Check alignment of your belt and some of these applications use a higher horsepower belt such as a cog belt. For the same belt profile a cog belt will transfer more power. A OEM belt will tell you if it is a cog belt.

Okay you want to maintain your belts go to Home Depot they'll have a belt in the tool department fits made up of many links make it any size you need this belt knocks out all vibrations you can shorten it or lengthen it as you need it it should Outlast any other type of belt it's a segmented pieces hook together belt best thing ever design I've taken many of the vibration problems out of my Woodshop and I've used this belt on many different applications on many different Motors
