It’s been three months since an Australian man and his dog have seen any other person after getting lost at sea. Tim Shaddock, 54, told his rescuers that he set off from Mexico’s Baja peninsula hoping to cross the Pacific Ocean and arrive in French Polynesia. Shaddock and his dog Bella reportedly hit bad weather that knocked out their electricity just weeks into their journey. When his provisions ran out he started eating raw fish to survive. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

@bless8861 I agree a dog can keep you going but I disagree in this particular case. The guy actually was in contact with his family. He talked to them. He never asked for help. This seems like a scam. The guy claimed he didn't ask for help because of pride. The story doesn't add up.

I'm starting to think the news has become a circus without a balance beam! Seriously, it's like they have a secret formula: 'Add a dash of negativity, sprinkle some outrage, and voila! Instant engagement!' I mean, why bother reporting heartwarming stories when we can have an army of angry commenters? It's the commenting Olympics, folks! And here I am, breaking all the rules by leaving a contradictory comment on this heartfelt video. I guess I'm just an acrobat of contradictions. But hey, who cares? @@brianpark2766It’s really not strange if you know the whole story. He deeply wanted to return to Australia to be with friends and family after such an ordeal. In order to take the dog to Australia with him, the dog would have had to been quarantined for months and months in isolation. After all they had been through, he didn’t want to put the sweet dog through that. So one of the rescuers stepped up to adopt the dog into his family to ensure he was cared for and had a good life going forward.😊

He said he felt terrible for bringing the dog because he was losing hope and knew he took her to a death trip. So to make her happier he gave her most of the food they captured. He had a harpoon and used it to catch bigger fish until a really big one as he says yanked it from his hands underwater, after that he could only fish with a line.

Now he gave the dog to the Captain of the fishing boat…….out of kindness. Australia has a super strict quarantine rules for pets. Basically weeks, or even months of isolation in a cage as a result. @jackinator_official Жыл бұрын
@mazewhite8687 I suppose this is actually very true. He couldn’t look for something to catch and who knows what would’ve taken the bait even if something did. It may not have been a fish he wanted. His line could only be bit off so many times until he would run out of hooks or more fishing line. And even then bait would also be a problem, and a questionable thing. He could only have so much on board, so it raises the question of whether he would have to portion his catches between he, his dog, and his fishing. Lucky enough he was able to survive eating raw
