That skinny fish is a freshwater pipefish Pipefish are actually relatives of seahorses (you can see the resemblance; just take a fish, streteetch it out, bend it and curl its tail, and boom) and like them they only eat tiny live foods Qotw: I’m a simple guy. Clown killies and boesemani rainbows, mostly because they seem to be the most popular and thus I have more information to go on with them than with other species
@AVDB953 ай бұрын
Some will take frozen food. My LFS has had freshwater pipefish for sale and within a few weeks got them to also take frozen foods. It mostly is that live is in some ways more convenient, 1 big feeding and the pipefish will spend the rest off the day hunting, compared to having to feed small frozen portions multiple times a day.

Years ago I inherited a pleco stuck it in with my gold fish as they had a mahoosive aquarium 5ft x 2ft x 2ft. I had to find it a new home as it would attach itself to their scales damaging them. Thankfully I knew someone who had a 6ft x 4ft x 4ft aquarium with 2 enormous pleco and they were pleased to accept it along with 3 guppies also inherited at the same time. Some months later their population of guppies was hundreds and the pleco too had bred. QOTW Not strictly a killifish. Medaka

Oh my gosh! You just solved a problem for me! I had a mastectomy in May and for the rest of my life I can't lift more than 10 lbs on that side or I could develop lymphedema. So I have been using this tiny bucket for water changes and making a million trips from my bedroom to the bathroom. I don't have a wheelchair but I do have a walker for days when my arthritis is bad. I can use that to carry larger buckets of water for water changes! Brilliant!

I recently lost my 15+ year old common pleco and only have three fish left in my tank and the bio load difference is... wild. 😮 I, personally, adore Plecostomas of all types, not "because they clean the tank" but because I think they are beautiful, amazing fish! Mine was very much like a dog, he would play with me, splash water at me with his tail when he was hungry, he would eat from my hands. He was just the best fish I've ever owned and losing him was... tough. I loved that fish so much.

Oh that over-weekend warehouse thing drives me mad! Please put the CORRECT label on packages; I once ordered some medaka ricefish an they put a "live plants" label instead of a "live fish" label on it. It had been sitting in the hot mail truck for most of the day; mailman said had he known it was fish he'd bring it first thing in the morning. None of them survived because the box wasn't really insulated either; just had crumpled up paper in it to make sure the bag would stay in place. Due to lack of insulation I just asked for a refund instead of new fish and thankfully they complied. But MAN. I was so sad! Anyway, QOTW answer: American Flagfish is my favorite killifish! Got a thriving population in my backyard pond; it's fun watching them eat the string algae. Hard to see their colors from top down but when I spot one at just the right angle they're really pretty! As for rainbowfish I've never really kept any, but the Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish has always been an interesting one

Least Killifish - although it is not actually, a killifish or related to killifish. It is closer related to guppies, platys, etc. Also, the worlds smallest live bearing fish AND instead of being pregnant and having a litter of fry born, instead, they have MULTIPLE pregnancies all at the same time. Having up to 9!! Pregnancies at once. They will give birth to 1-2 fry, every 2ish weeks. They are somewhat bland, but they’re also a AMAZING nano fish. Staying under 1” long. They are incredibly fascinating and close to one of my favorite fish in the whole hobby, right under peacock gudgen, which I’d say counts as a rainbow fish.
