okay hear me out. carbonara is only 4 ingredients (spaghetti, fatty pork, parmesan, egg) and it takes a good bit of practice to get it exactly right (the eggs cook ONLY on the residual heat of the fresh-cooked pasta, if its too hot they scramble and if its too cold they dont cook at all) but once you get it down you can make it in 20 minutes max and its absolutely delicious.
@Chompchompyerded9 ай бұрын
Yes. This is a proper carbonara. No cream. You have to get the right kind of pork though. Pork should be a good guanciale. The pepper on one side makes it soooo good. I prefer pecorino rather than parmesan, but do it as you like. This is the thing about carbonara. You make it how YOU like, except never use cream. Use pasta water and it will be plenty creamy. Also, be sure not to add any fish from your aquarium. That is not a proper use of aquarium fish, even if you are trying to make a marinara.

QOTW answer: Barbarian Burger. A nice wad of hamburger burned on the outside and raw on the inside, between two pieces of bread, with plenty of ketchup to symbolize blood. Barbarian Burgers are sometimes more than my budget can afford, and then I fall back on ramen, or Peanut Butter Spaghetti Noodles, which has angel hair pasta, and a sauce made of peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, a little sugar, garlic run through a garlic press, and hot pepper flakes. Sometimes I'll put just a dash of roasted sesame seed oil, or some oyster sauce, Usually has a lot of green onions in it too. There are lots of ways to dress it up, and it's cheep, kinda like ramen. It's definitely satisfying.

Also love to make baked tilapia with lemon and butter, and not just because I give my dwarf crayfish a sliver of raw tilapia on those days...

Zucchini diced 1cm3, garlic also diced, olive oil, 2 small cayenne peppers, 1 or 2 eggs, any pasta preferably macaroni or farfalle: 1.Spoonful of oil on pan, brown the garlic, 2. add the zucchini and the two cayenne peppers and let them brown a bit while their water evaporates. 3. Meanwhile boil the pasta with salt and a drop of olive oil 4. Once the zucchini are done remove the peppers if you dont want to find them (it's a conversation piece tho) and mix the pasta well 5. turn off the stove and mix with battered egg, mix well, warmth will half cook the egg, 6. Add the parmesan It's a quick healthy dish, let me know if you like it.

Bake at 350F for 3 hours. Enjoy ! (Alternatively they could be cooked on a bbq grill too if you prefer, still takes a few hours, slow cooked on the grill - same prep process). Baking them is super easy though. It does take time to cook, so you do need to cook them a few hours earlier than the planned meal-time, but it's not difficult at all. Good sides to go with it: rice or potatoes, & any veggies of your choice. Super delicious.

One was when I sliced chicken breast in half thinly, marinated it in barbecue sauce (overnight is best) then cooked it on the barbecue (oven works too but barbecue tastes better). Serve it on a bun with more barbecue sauce, mayo, slices of tomato and cheddar, and a leaf of lettuce. The other is cube 1 chicken breast, 1/2 bell pepper, 1 stalk of celery, and 1/2 onion. Saute the chicken until cooked. Remove from pan. Saute veggies until tender crisp. Add cooked chicken, 1 can (undiluted) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup, 1/4 to 1/2 can of milk, 1 small clove of garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Lately, my go to has been to cube chicken, toss it into a bag with an egg, flour, and panko breadcrumbs (maybe also some spices), shake it up, then cook it like that. It's super durable and tasty because you can add so many kinds of sauces. I've done this process with teriyaki sauce, a sweet orange sauce, a combo of some dark soy sauce and yum yum sauce, and most recently some gravy. Sometimes I throw in onions or vegetables, sometimes I just experiment with the spices and see what I get. It's super simple and cooks up fast, but also allows for a lot of variety and customization

QOTW: cook 2 boxes of chicken flavored rice-a-roni in your rice maker. Cook a pound of mild or sweet Italian sausage and break it up into small pieces. If you get it in casings, take it out of the casings and then cook it and break it up. Drain most of the grease from the sausage when it is cooked. Mix the cooked rice and cooked sausage in a mixing bowl. Pour 3/4 of a jar of tomato sauce/pasta sauce into the mix. I recommend Mid’s Tomato Basil sauce. It is surprisingly good for a jarred sauce. Stir those three ingredients together and add some mozzarella cheese. Pour the mixture into a casserole dish and smooth it out. Pour the remaining tomato sauce on top and then cover with more mozzarella cheese. You can top with some fresh basil if you like. Bake it at 375 degrees for about 30minutes or until it looks melty and delicious with some browning on the mozzarella cheese. This isn’t my favorite thing to cook but it is super easy and delicious and a source of comfort. ❤

QOTW :hi, if you like sweet and savory, you may want to try this one. one of my go to meat is beef sirloin flank steak, either that or chuck roll I make fine crosshatch pattern cuts on the surface of the meat and rub it with pineapple and applesauce. Usually by the time I've prepared all 4 to 6 pieces of meat I've to cook, I rince them off so it doesn't get too sweet either. I then rub them with either salt or left over seasoning power from instant noodles (what I usually use has sugar, salt, chilli powder, other spices and dried spring onions and some other "fun" chemicals for flavour, acidity and colour... as usual ) . Then I prepare in a Pyrex oven dish, one onion or two finely chopped and 3 crushed then finely chopped garlic cloves seasoned/coated with a twinge of white vinegar a tiny bit of salt and some olive oil then I turn on the oven and let those cook a bit until the onions start to be translucent or fragrant, I then had the meat to the dish and add 10 grams of butter in there, I put it in a way to each piece of meat has a bit of butter on top. And let it cook on its own at your own convenience. I can't tell at which temperature or what amount of time it takes, since all I had to cook it was an old broken down mini oven going to officially 220°C max (which I was using for this recipe ) and I like my meat well done. but anyway, if you see it starting to burn because their is no water left, it's time to put in a bit of a water to make some sauce if you want, I usually didn't Those last steps for the oven you can easily adapt them to the a skillet or frying pan, just remember to sear all side of the meat over high before lowering the heat and covering the pan to let it cook over itself

I’m going for an all natural setup- live sand, plants, live rock from my local aquarium store. I want it to kind of give river vibes since the setup will be for a GSP in the future.

QOTW: My personal go to meals are A. Ratatouille, which I make the way my dad makes it, like a stew (he's from France) and where I'm located, the ingredients are super cheap to get. Also the pumpkin fish pie from Kiki's delivery service is a good one you can do relatively cheaply. I use butternut squash personally, as it's easier to get.

My favorite recipe to cook up has to be hamburger soup. It's so easy! Brown your ground beef and onions together, add some garlic, salt, pepper and some beef or veggie broth and veggies if your choice. Cook until veggies are done. We freeze leftover veggies from meals and just toss them in our soups. I love this type of recipe because it's so adaptable (add/omit what you want) and just a good meal.

I wish there was a good way to keep freshwater mussels alive in an aquarium, because they are incredible filters.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with chopping things up and throwing them in a pot to cook or a wok to stir-fry. I found that egg plant, zucchini, and bell peppers are always a good combination of vegetables and they pair well with an onion and some garlic too. These vegetables pair well with minced beef, but cubed pork or chicken will also do. You can make soup of this combination with some Italian herbs or throw it in a tomato pasta sauce or make a curry of them. I also like to pair broccoli with cauliflower, they always make a good pairing of vegetables for whatever I make. Flavor-wise fish sauce, soy sauce and oyster sauce are always my go-to bottles to give any dish a quick umami boost (I often roll dice on which one to add). For a sweeter umami I use Indonesian ketjap manis soy sauce. Sriracha is my go-to for an unami hot sauce. For an instant smoky flavor in my sauces I use a decaf instant coffee, though a chunk from a 99% dark chocolate bar also works well. If you eat rice, you can also do something fun like steam them in a light blonde beer and/or some granulated chicken stock, plus some herbs and spices. You can steam this with some raisins and add some ground cashew nuts (or another type of nut of your choosing) too. I often make kvass (Eastern European children's beer) from old bread and then I use any leftover kvass to steam my rice like I wrote in the above.

The eel is likely having issues eating that food because there's not a lot to grab onto. An eel can grab onto a live fish better because that's what its mouth is made for...not for catching wispy ribbons of cottony tissue that get blown around like puffs of smoke. Also, yeah those eels are cool, but they live for almost 30 years- that's along term commitment!
