I'm 50 years old and have Trout Fished my whole life, including Fly Fishing. I have tied Flies and made Trout Spinners for years, and what the younger fisherman don't know yet, is...Trout will hit just about anything. I make spinners even out of Walmart beads for the body, and slam Trout all day long. You don't need expensive gear to be successful.

True that!

Went fishing one time expecting to dig a worm or catch a grasshopper and... Nothing, anywhere, so I picked a dandelion flower, put it on a hook and caught a nice trout my first cast!
@Fox1nDen4 жыл бұрын
so true. one bead at the top of the hook followed by string tied in knots to mimic a fly have caught lots of fish for me, from pan fish to PB blue catfish. why huge fish go for tiny flies I could not explain.
@Fox1nDen4 жыл бұрын
@Lucas Oats yeah, you're right. I have seen fish of all sizes pounce on a moth that hits too close to the water... that is why fish hang out under shrubs and trees. Flies fall off them all the time.

That bow, at about 9 minutes, appeared to be older or scarred, due to the maks on its back, just rear of the gills. The last two browns were astonishingly beautiful!! Lastly, I was bummin', when you were in Walmart, and didn't snatch a couple colors of Panther Martins, while you were there (I've been successly using Panthers for years)!! Thanks for the great videos!!
@DyslexicTurtle4 жыл бұрын
I've used these lures for a bunch of different species, they actually work really well. The only problem is they don't last very long, something happens with the swivel near the top that prevents good spinning action, or they get bent so badly they simply don't work anymore.

Contrary to the expectation of many, lure fishing does *not* have to be expensive. You can get a $25 trout rod-and-reel, half a dozen $1 small spoons or spinners, and $2.99 spool of line, plus perhaps $5 in snaps and/or swivels, then $8 for a pair of pliers w/ small scissors from the grocery, and catch yourself a mess of quality rainbows, cutthroats, smallies, crappies, white bass, et al. The reel won't be the smoothest-turning you've ever experienced, but if you're on a budget it doesn't have to be. Back in 2016 (as an experiment) I built a little trout set-up for under $50 and landed a whole bunch of early-winter rainbows during multiple visits at my favorite local reservoir.
