Fishing Piru Creek where the Rainbow Trout are hungry and biting on multiple baits!

Fished Piru often in the 70s. At Frenchmans and also downstream near the old Blue Point Campground up from Lake Piru. We would hike up to Ellis Apiary and the gorge. Some true wilderness and good trout and bass fishing near where Fish Creek pours in. Nasty little black flies are a beech. Thanks for stirring up the memories.

Wow, recognized Piru Creek instantly. I'm 76 now and used to fish there in my thirties and forties when we lived in the San Fernando valley. They stocked it in those days.

When I went here I thought they still stocked it! Turns out just natives! They are still there though!

1. I been fishing this creek and up stream for over 45 years,,,I only use one bait to knock them dead,, Single hook salmon egg,,,2. If you go way down 2-4 miles …down piru you’ll run into some big pools with huge trout,,1 lb plus trout,,,3. The fishing up-stream towards the Dam is good also,,,

You are in Rattlesnake country!! I suspect it's still cool enough that having an encounter with one is slim. I used to fish Lake Piru, and Sespie Creek up above Ojai, almost step on them if you are fishing during the time they come out to sun bath.
@Mike-ny6sf18 күн бұрын
Yep! I fished Piru Creek in the 80s. There wasn't any trouble with Rattlers close to the parking area, but venturing into the canyon you better watch out.

Hey there! I wanted to suggest incorporating discussions on conservation into your videos. Given the challenges trout face in California, particularly with climate change/drought, and over fishing, highlighting sustainable fishing practices could really benefit the ecosystem and enrich your content. This way, you're not just sharing fishing spots but also promoting the protection of these precious resources for future generations. It seems like you respect these beautiful fish, however I've encountered people on water that don't always share our perspective.

You should really be more mindful about stating where you're fishing. It isn't informative it just adds unnecessary pressure to that location. There is practically no wild trout left there because of people blowing up the spot. Next thing you know there is going to be empty powerbait and salmon egg jars all over and no trout.

Your video has a lot of misinformation. Piru Creek has not been stocked in over 15 years. All of the fish in that creek and native / wild fish. The creek below the weir falls under regular trout regs. Upstream of the weir is catch and release only with single barbless hooks. Fishing above the last bridge before the dam is illegal. All of us anglers from Southern California who cherish this local water (since there aren’t a lot of trout fisheries available to us) would appreciate if you updated this video or even took it down. There is danger is people thinking that a creek is stocked when it isn’t. This creek has had issues and continues to have issues with poaching. Please do your research before you put information out there.
@theu.s.ofangling134421 күн бұрын
Thanks for pointing out it’s no longer stocked, I took that part out. Just a quick 10 second clip I had to delete…. I got some bad info from one of the local campground hosts. But…… A lot of misinformation in this video?? I literally tell people to make sure they look up regulations for different areas they fish 🤷🏽♂️ Man I bet you tell some crazy fish stories with those exaggerations! Thanks for watching!
@Andy_onthefly21 күн бұрын
Thanks for updating it. You didn’t have to throw the insult into the conversation, as I was trying to do you a favor by passing on pertinent information you didn’t include in your video. That being said, The “crazy fish stories” I tell are simply no match for your monetized channel that’s hot-spotting fisheries you’ll likely only visit once, while the local anglers are left dealing with the unneeded attention you’ve brought to these spots.
