NORTH CAROLINA BROOK TROUT!
A few months ago my friend Dillon and I planned out a trip to Western North Carolina in hopes of having a good weekend of camping and fly fishing. Our target species was the southern strain of the native Appalachian Brook Trout. These fish have lived in the southern Appalachian mountain range for since the last ice age and are easily one of the most beautiful fish on earth.
In Part 2 of the mini series we continue on our day of catching tons of native southern Appalachian strain brook trout. We end up catching around 80 fish in total between the two of us, with several nice fish coming to the net. We then packed up our camp and made it back home!
Check out Trippin on Trout's latest video: • TOP FLY FISHING with D...
I hope everyone enjoyed this little mini series! And thank you so much for watching!

Although not native here in, Co. They love Beaver ponds & hundreds appeared in a few seasons. Up to 14 inches in the Fall. My son & I would scout the wilderness for new ponds. Some days we caught 20 each. Took only a few home each year. It was only 10 mikes from home. Those were good days in, Co b4 Cal came here.

Great video as always. And beautiful brookies! I'm curious if you take stream temps when you get on a stream? It's the first thing I do, as temp often dictates how the fishing will go. For natives, 56F-58F seems to be ideal on the streams I fish.

@@nottooherbal the rhododendron are God's joke to the fly fishermen. Lol. You'll tangle faster in one than even imaginable. But seriously, they are commonplace here in NC. Sometimes so thick that you can hike many yards, down to a stream, by just stepping branch to branch because you can't get to the ground. True story.

The brook trout are the only native trout in the Midwest and the Northeast and Southeast. The rainbows are native out west, but its the brown trout that were brought over from Germany if I'm not mistaken
