Yo Jon, I know you are still relatively new to fly fishing but here is a tip to improve your casting. Use your forearm, not your shoulder, or your whole body. Even though its a heavy line your rod is what should be adding action to the tip, not your body. If you load it correctly you will get that perfect D-loop we all love. hey jon a couple tips]of fly fishing, when you set the hook set straight up with the rod and pull down with your line hand, also when you get the hook set work on putting the line on the reel because the reel wont accidently snap it off. and with casting use more shoulder, if you use your shoulder and your back more than wrist and elbow the cast will come out smoother. and one last thing, on your back cast come back more aggressively because that helps it lay out flat behind your head in the air. this is coming from a veteran trout angler, I have no idea if any ideas change on flats like this. sorry if I sounds like an ass Im really not trying to.
