Fishing Carp In The Margins

Most anglers when they target carp do so at long range on heavy tackle with boillies and pellets. Here Graeme Pullen demonstrates the technique of stalking in the margins in swims where anglers who have packed up and gone home have dumped their un-used bait.

From across the pond; well done-sir! Here in the states we call it “fishing close to the bank” works well but only on a busy pond or lake, with many anglers coming and going. I fished bread on one rod in margins and other on prawn and wow I got two totally awesome ripper takes and both weighing just above 15lb one mirror one common. Graham is a totally awesome fishing guru 😉

I love the way you fish Graeme, so simple and very affective. I've always used simple methods since I was young and I've always found it best. I think your vids are brilliant, it just shows you don't need sophisticated baits or methods to have a good day's fishing! If you're ever in Essex check out my local fishery (Claverhambury carp lakes) I've fished for a few years. Great commercial lake where your methods and likewise work a treat anytime of the year! Keep up the great work!

When the carp are up near the surface like that you can also catch them on a piece of floating bread it's really fun and exciting watching a big carp come up to the surface and gulp up your bread. Just a fun little way to fish my dad and i came up worked really well when carp are spawning in a small pond we use to fish in

when ever I fish carp, it's always about 4' off shore. I have a kenkore sp3 3' rod with 2 lbd line. Weather I land them or not is not important but the fisght is incredible!

Bran comes as horse feed from agricultural supplier. After one good starter feed, little and often is a good approach.

Yes,but cook the hemp well first.Boil it until you see grain split and show a white speck where it has split.Carp eat anything. Check out "Carp on roast dinner" on you tube.I also filmed a carp in a tank with a 4 inch bleak down its throat a few weeks ago. Don't be afraid to experiment with baits.Including frozen prawns,which is also good.Good Luck.

i tried this 2day for the first time... im normaly a buzzer carp fisher but i fished close in 2day on a float kinda stalking and i got a crackin carp and a few tench, best kinda fishing goin. try it if you havnt already

Yes,Carp love a cheap mix of plain bread and dry bran,mushed up in a bucket.Just damp it,do not over wet.

Holme Grange, I've been meaning to visit here.I've heard it's basically carp soup and really too easy and ideal for putting a bend in the rod of a novice angler. I'm only in Chertsey so whats my excuse. Thanks for the upload BTW.

You need warm weather this time of year,which we have not had so all species a bit lethargic.Better if you can bait up the evening before,then fish the next morning,but if a commercial day ticket water look for where other anglers have been fishing.The carp will be used to the bait going into that area.Good luck

Like aarons lake in Ingatestone.....fish practically crawling up the line.....gets a bit boring after a while. I caught on a piece of scotch egg, egg white, ham, a penut, and even used a folded up leaf and still caught one lol. In the end I was just trying the most obscure things to see what I could catch

I have tried this kind of method at my local lake. Gone down there after work from about 6:30pm until 9pm(2 to 3 hours) now the days are longer. So far no fish. Is this too short a period of time to expect this method to work? It may also be that the fish are breeding and so feeding less? Would like to know your thoughts Graeme, thanks. I think you are too early for this type of fishing as the water temps are still pretty cold for margin fishing. Try around the middle of May,and if an underfished water it doesn't hurt to go down and prebait to get them used to it.Good Luck.Graeme

this is why i have gone onto specimen fishing. staying clear of the commercial fisheries as they make u appear to be a better angler than you really are. hit the nail on the head its exactly like hook a duck. no method will fail at these places
