Fishing Catalina Island on the Pescador

Fished Catalina on the Pescador out of 22nd St. Landing with a great group of fisherman. The yellows made a showing but not in the force that they've been lately. We landed 8 for the boat. I didn't get one. The calicos were on the chew and that made up for it. Special thanks to Mr. Romo for giving me some yellow fillets! Really appreciate it, bro! Enjoy!

Peter Torres Maybe down the line for sure. At the basic level use the 200 series for bait and 300 series for jigs. Upgrade to better drags. Should be good to go. 👍

steve gonzalez I’ve pulled on those Okuma pch series before. They’d be great for colt snipers type jigs paired with that Tern 400. You can use it for surface iron but it wouldn’t be ideal. Just my opinion tho.

Rocky Elefane It was fine. The gears were clunky at first because of the stainless steel parts. But that didn’t affect the casting. What was weird about the tension knob?

Jigslinger's Fishing Channel Yeah you’re right about that, i did free spool it and and crack it making so much weird noise, knob casting control is the one that bothers me LOL. U can only do one full turn and I don’t see any change on the brake system to kinda slow down when you’re casting.

I just tried casting it 30 minutes ago, what I did is removed the knob put portion of paper, inside and boom it worked, the break works okay now😅

MishaFlyers 26 Highly recommend you do so. You can either use the fishing tape from any fishing tackle shop. Or use the medical stuff I use from CVS.

bob vangrin I was using the 500 for surface iron. Tough to compare an open face reel with a level wind. I prefer open face reels for surface iron but you can’t go wrong with either one. 👍
