I went on the Liberty with a couple of buddies. The yft started biting and we wanted to get in on the action! We found biting fish! What work was light line and small hooks. The bait wasn't that great. The right swimming bait was an instant bite on light line so change your bait often. They also bit the colt sniper type jigs. Get out there and get some! They're biting!!! The Liberty's crew was top notch as always! Daniel in the galley cooked up some great grub in between handing off hooked fish to newbies. I met some great folks on the trip! Hope to share a rail with you guys again soon! Enjoy!

I enjoy watching your videos because you are so good with artificials, which is not my strong point. I tend to be lazy and go straight to live bait for the most part, since I lack finesse. A couple of things -- that was an impressive fight your friend had with that bluefin. Another thing is, I found it odd that people would go right next to him and throw their bait out. I'm sure there are other places to cast. And finally, that lady angler who was trying to underhand cast her bait basically would end up tangling people. If you're not drifting that much or aren't on the slide, you need to cast to make sure your bait gets away from the boat. I know you do that, but some folks don't realize that the fish just goes directly under the boat and doesn't get bit, just tangled.
@jigslingersfishingchannel37135 жыл бұрын
Briguy1027 I hear ya. It’s unavoidable in these kind of trips. Big crowds with lots of newbies. Even tho we had a good score for the boat you’d had to work for a bite. The bait was small and weak. Anyone that couldn’t cast away from the boat couldn’t get bit. The crew were hook and hand a bunch of fish. My recommendation for anyone that can’t cast conventional well is to get a good spinning setup. They’re so much easier to cast small baits. My other buddy crushed it with his spinner. Appreciate you following the channel my man. 🤙🤙🤙🤙

Question for you if you’re still following your KZbin page. Have you ever had issues with the Trinidad 14A and not having enough drag or line capacity? I’m considering either a 14A or 16A to fish 20-25lb test flouro leaders. Not sure which one to go with. Thanks in advance for your help!
@jigslingersfishingchannel37132 жыл бұрын
The 14A can handle anything up to 50lbs easily. And that’s really all you want to handle at 25lb leader anyway.

@jigslinger out off the tranx, komodo, and lexa if you have one, which do you like the most. Is a tranx worth almost double the an the others.
@jigslingersfishingchannel37134 жыл бұрын
Pablo Rivera I have all three. The Tranx is by far the best looks wise. I like Shimano‘s 400 size because it’s a tad smaller than the Lexa 400 and Komodo 400. I have the Lexa 300hd, Lexa 300wn, and Komodo 300. Lexa is smoother. Komodo has SS parts I believe. They’re all great so go with your preference and budget.

@CQBTactical255 жыл бұрын
I notice throughout your videos when you throw a jig you have this very fast/tight cadence with your jigs. If you’re throwing a sniper, either burn it like Javier told you, or let it sink out and crank 5-7 times with 2-3 second pauses. With your stickbait, you can either do a long sweep and wind, or big long jerks. For a very committed angler who wants to get one on the popper smaller is better with long pauses. If the fish are biting light line and small hooks, small poppers will work but you have to stick to it.

Are you supposed to hold the line like that on a level wine reel?
@jigslingersfishingchannel37135 жыл бұрын
Ryan Navarro It’s not so much about the reel having a level wind. It’s about creating tension when reeling in. Since I was using a jig it wasn’t necessary to do because there’s tension from the jig but I do it out of habit.

Anthony P I usually fish them by letting them sink. On this trip they were getting bit by ripping them back as soon as they land. I’ve never seen that happened before. But I did get two hits after I switched over to doing that. Something to try next time you’re not getting bit on the colt jigs. 🤙
