Thanks to all who have watched and enjoyed this video. I always welcome feedback and conversation about any of my trips however there have been a number of comments that have criticised my decision to fish this day. Those that may be new to my channel, please rest assured that I have a good understanding of the sea, it's conditions and how different factors can impact the swell from my boating experience (where I do the majority of my fishing). I did not put myself or my mother in any unnecessary danger so please just enjoy the video for what it is - a good days fishing! :)

You know how to pick a good fishing day. Glad you caught something. Good to hear that you’re going to give it another go, good luck 🐟

A nice choppy sea sturs up the seabed of food, westerly the favourite. 2 rods and it gets busy. Take a shelter. West Bay boats are a bane with whenever they get out there 😮

I shall be honest I have fished chesil on many occasions in the past as I used to live in Dorset...that was not at it's worse by any means fair play to you both for trying and at least no blank. A good spot to fish is cogden if you can survive the long uphill walk back to the carpark...west bexington fishes well for rays to the left of the carpark about 500 yds walk plus.best of luck next time out tight lines nice video 🎣🎣👍

Thanks for watching! Yes it can get worse, the conditions did worsen toward the ends of the session however I didn’t get much footage of this. Thanks for the thoughts on marks also, I’ve booked some beachfront accommodation for later this year so keen to explore much of Chesil 👍

Good on ya bud But walk and reel when the fish is beached dont drop your rod on the shingle and walk down for the fish . Respect your gear what ever price it is . Just need some tuition i think on body and rod position when uour reeling in its so frustrating to watch and not in a critical way buddy . A better rod and reel will improve uour fishing just because of lightness compared to big black foam handled rods they are so cumbersome. Well done tho i liked the video🎣🎣🎣🎣tight lines

Majority of my gear is for boat fishing as it’s predominantly where I fish, however a shingle beach will do little harm to your rod and reel! 😊 Sands a different story…
@southerner456611 ай бұрын
In conditions like that you really need to be using 7 oz leads and clipped rigs and putting them as far as you possibly can. Also keep the rods up high.

Just listening to other anglers that fish chesil you and your mum need to be a lot further back from the breaking waves when fishing there ! Apparently you get the odd freak rogue wave that can come right up the beach. Not fish is worth being dragged in by a wave! Be careful and tight lines 🤞🎣
@SeaSmith11 ай бұрын
You make a good point about beach safety, especially at Chesil! The camera angles are quite deceiving and we were a fair distance from the shoreline. We took great care to count the sets of waves on an ebbing tide and watched the surge waves before setting any gear.
@rickphillips509811 ай бұрын
That's not a storm for Chesil! Fish it when I have to hold your rod as tripod just gets blown away! Use massive leader and drag fish up the beach never go close to the shore line .. great you caught just be very aware off how dangerous it is
@mvatoiband11 ай бұрын
To be honest you should never fish in that condition let alone with your mum, always check weather and wind conditions and swell high whenever fish at Chesil otherwise all you get is losing rigs after rigs with unpleasant weather. Any wind higher than 20mph then think carefully.
@SeaSmith11 ай бұрын
Same attention to detail was taken to prep and condition as when I do a boat trip. I didn't lose a single rig and just goes to show it still provided a fish! I'd encourage anyone to 'give it a go' IF the right precaution and common sense approach is taken. If the winds had been stronger, with a flooding tide then I would not of fished it.

If you have never fished Chesil beach. You should stay away in those conditions. Let me tell you when it's blowing like that and with that kind of swell it's incredibly dangerous. I've been fishing that beach for 45 years I've seen many swamped angler's. It's not a beach for novice anglers in hih swell. Save your trips for calmer weather when it's much safer especially for your mother. If you get swept in your never coming out alive. Be ultra careful !!!!!!!.

Please do not assume that I have a poor knowledge of the sea and its dangers. I have good understanding of the impact of a lot of different factors due to my boating experience (where I do the majority of my fishing). I took the right precautions, such as timing the sets of waves and did lots of research prior to my visit. I do not always include all of this thought or preparation in my videos. At no point did I put myself in any dangerous situations.
@MichaelDavis-pq6ei10 ай бұрын
@@SeaSmith Looking at that video my friend I would say you know very little about Chesil beach. Remember you post a video people watch that video that then go on to think it's safe to fish In those kind of conditions. Mabe you were safer than you looked but don't assume all your viewers know what Chesil is capable of as the locals do.
