Howzit Keegan. Agreed, that blacktails are tastier as compared to Shad. My late grandma (old Bluff / West people) always waited for her favourite fish i.e. blacktails whenever my late dad, his brothers and his colleagues (old legendary West Fishermen from the 50's & 60's) went fishing....She's always stated that these were tastier fish....and they came from the "old fishing families of the West." At the beginning I was using my 11ft Assassin Rock Hopper....then towards the end I use my 3 piece...long butt..10ftt Assassin Surf Edge...top rod!
