I had a great session last summer, bright sunshine, early afternoon. Fishibg maggots for silvers when noticed Perch following my catches into the bank. Changed to fishing lobworm and had five Perch, 2 one and half pounders, a 2 pounder, a 3 pounder and a 4 pounder, not in that order of course. A great session along with Dace, Roach, Rudd and Chub.

I am a pellet angler, i do occasionally use maggots and white bread in the winter. I am a pleasure angler, sometimes I spend more time bird watching, or any wildlife, just love the British countryside. I use a Shimano aero x5 feeder rod & a Diawa 3000 ninja reel, either 4llb or 6llb bs line on each spool............Perch....most i catch are in the half pound range, but on one hot day 2 years ago I landed one that needed weighing 3llb 4oz, pleased as punch i was, i followed the session with 4 more, smallest being 2llb, early last year, March, I could have sworn i had a bream on, on netting my eye's almost popped out, it was a monster, 5llb 9oz. All these fish took pellets, on that hot day, F1 sweet 6mm pellets, the monster fell for a 6mm garlic and cheese flavour pellet. A friend swears by prawns to catch not only carp, but good Perch alike, but no where near my hauls !!

Fished specifically for Perch for 30 years. Preceding the great Lure revolution. My opinion is bait cant be beat and of all the baits, you cant beat a live bait. My PB runs at 4lb 15oz from just weeks ago. I do lure fish too, quite alot, maybe 50/50 to bait fishing trips. Bait has all the big ones. Look liek it may be one of those venues where they trim the trees and let the litter drop in the water where its left .. snaggy heaven. Feeding windows can often be toward last light but will end before the light goes. I fished yesterday (January) they came on at 3.30pm and off at 5.30, it got dark at 6 (ish)

It's more effective to target large perch with small live fish baits. Small fish will be taken by chub too if they are present and Chub will sometimes take prawns too.

Your banksticks are much too short and bobbins to heavy and too short, no wonder you missed so many takes. They aren't carp you need long drops and light bobbins to give them time with lower resistance if it hits the baitrunner 9 times out of 10 the perch has dropped the bait
@stephengibbons999410 ай бұрын
You definitely don’t need long drops and light bobbins . Caught plenty of really big perch and even on bolt rigs . They ain’t bothered in the slightest about resistance
