Pin fish are in my opinion the most underrated bait

Csmith Fishing You are right I used to use them for 2 years and caught nothing I thought it was because of their spines. Then I went snapper fishing and caught 4 10lbs 2 15lbs and 1 22 lbs red snapper

I live on tampa bay, and for tarpon the BEST bait is cut in half fresh threadfin
@nam32724 жыл бұрын
Oh yah dead bait works really well but people dont expect it at all. I live in ga and I fish for tarpon in ponds. No one ever thinks about fishing dead bait. Just live shrimp and live mullet. I use dead mullet or pogy on the bottom and I swear I catch 10x more tarpon than anyone I know that uses live.

Love all your vids, can you give us any advice on catching tarpon from land in July in Tampa?
@SeeYaDude4 жыл бұрын
Most of the tarpon are cruising up the beaches and hanging in the passes on moving tides. Your best bet would be to look for the schools of fish off the beach and use either live pinfish under a bobber or slowly work swimbaits or twitchbaits in front of the school. Bridges are a good options too

Hi Brent, love your videos and your casting aim is on a snipers level!!! I just recently became the proud owner of a small boat and would like to see a video on trolling motors, I'll be using it for both freshwater and saltwater so I guess I'll get a saltwater one to be able to cover both with no problems. Thinking that probably will go with minnkota brand.
@SeeYaDude4 жыл бұрын
I really like my Minn Kota. I'd highly recommend getting one that has an anchor or spot lock feature, it's so nice

Where are some good spots to fish out here in Tampa if you don't have a kayak or boat? Can't seem to find any good spots other than the skyway and fort DeSoto.
@SeeYaDude4 жыл бұрын
Try the Safety Harbor pier and surrounding park. Lots of redfish, snook and trout over there

@@SeeYaDude You recommend using a DOA CAL setup or cast net for greenbacks? Maybe pickup some shrimp?
@SeeYaDude4 жыл бұрын
Can't go wrong with a DOA or live shrimp. There is often times greenbacks hanging around the pier so I'd recommend bringing a cast net or sabiki, but don't only rely on them being there

What's your thoughts on the Bull Bay Stealth Sniper? I've noticed in some of your vids you go with the St.Croix Mojo Inshore as well. What would you recommend? I'm mostly gonna be using it for Kayak fishing. Also what size rod would you recommend for it? Thanks in advance from another local Tampa resident! My 9 year old son and I really enjoy your videos and he's always trying to spot the areas you're at haha. Keep up the great work!
@SeeYaDude4 жыл бұрын
I like my 7' 6" medium stealth sniper more than my 7' 6" medium mojo inshore. However, the 7' 6" medium-light mojo inshore I have is probably still my favorite rod. I have yet to try a 7' 6" medium-light stealth sniper though. You honestly can't go wrong with either. I'd recommend either a 7' or 7' 6" medium-light power rod with a 3000 size reel
@jasoncalvert98244 жыл бұрын
@@SeeYaDude thanks for the advice. Before you responded I just left Tampa Fishing Outdoors and went with the Bull Bay Stealth Sniper 7'6" #10-20, Medium Heavy Fast rod. And got the Daiwa Saltist Back Bay LT 4000 reel. Thoughts on that setup? Just missed your response before I purchased.

Early morning and evenings off the beaches with live pinfish or greenbacks about 4' under a bobber. Look for schools of tarpon rolling and cast ahead of their path and wait for them to find your bait

Ok I gave this video a "Like", however... I'll never understand the idea of "catch and release". If those fish that were caught were under-sized, then yes, I get that you have to throw them back. However, if those fish were legal-sized, how come they weren't brought home and cooked up? That seems like a waste of time. I hunt and I fish. My expectation each time I go out for one of these endeavors is to bring food back home. Someone please explain the rationale for "catch and release". Please be rational and respectful. This is a legitimate question. Your tone will reflect your intelligence.
