I have caught a lot of "stripers" (big whites, hybrids and a few stripers) over the years in June at Lake of the Ozarks (LOZ) trolling black/silver Fat Raps in the evening, trolling over long points that reached out to the main channel. The Fat Rap only reaches ~8 ft. These fish are schooled up near the surface and ready to feed. You need good gear when trolling for them. As you mentioned, they break things! My fishing partner snagged a 117 lb spoon bill on a Fat Rap. Those crazy fish will jump out of the water like a skip jack.

Thanks for spilling your guts Dan - LOL. I fish for stripers on the beach and in the Delaware. I'm 30 minutes from the Nock. I tried your night tactics only a couple of times. Funny how it's different yet similar. Gota give it another try soon.

I've shaved a couple of years worth of trial and error by watching these videos. Really glad I found your channel. Enjoying your past striper content. We finally got our first boat and the boss and I have really enjoyed trying to figure out the stripers out on lake Texoma over the winter/spring and now dog days of summer. Going to give them a try after the night bite fades into darkness because neither of us like fishing mid-day in 105 degree heat. Really looking forward to your future content.

First time watcher. I appreciate the tutorial on lures. I fish Beltzville hard. I live 2 minutes from it. I never tried lures at night. I just use the alwifes. Do you use the baitfish at all?

Welcome Shaun, I don't use live bait as part of the fun for me is to find ways to catch these fish on artificials. I do recognize that live bait is extremely effective. Perhaps you can fish live bait and throw lures at the same time?

Great video. When you were talking about resuscitating a worn out striper; have you ever caught one that already had the red color to them while landing the fish? If so, do you do the same thing with holding their tail and let them kick off? Or is it too late and they'll die anyway? Thanks.

In freshwater it is really dependent on water temp and the size of the striper. big ones will likely die if the water temp is 75 or above no matter what you do unless you get it in really fast.

Back in the late 90s, me and some other anglers were able to convince Cordell to do one last 1000 piece run of this lure. I bought around 50 of them so I would have a lifetime supply. I do see them for sale at ebay now and then.
